Today I decided to watch a Kevin Smith film. The film I watched was Dogma which is a comedy revolving around two fallen angels trying to get back to heaven which will inadvertently cause existence to be erased so a group of people (including Jay and Silent Bob) try to stop them from achieving their goal. Dogma stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Alan Rickman, Linda Fiorentino, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Chris Rock and Salma Hayek.
There are a few positives to this film, which include: great humour, good story and story progression and good acting. To expand, there are lots of very funny moments in this film and most (if not all) of the laugh-out-loud moments come from the character's conversations with each other (especially Jay and Silent Bob and Loki and Bartleby); the story in this film is actually pretty good for a comedy and supports the humour, also everyone in the film did a good performance. On the side of negatives there are only a few, which are that the amount of jokes slowed down about half way through and the special effects weren't great (however it was a low budget 90's comedy I didn't expect much). About half way through the film there are less jokes than the rest of the film it is still enjoyable but not as hilarious as the other bits of the film, the story progression doesn't slow just the amount of jokes.
Overall I really enjoyed this film and I don't think this is going to be the last time I see it, so taking all I have said into consideration I rate this film:
