With the brand new release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 propaganda trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, I thought it would be awesome to break down some cinematic dystopian militia outfits and rank them in order of effectiveness to their audience and to their goal within their respective films.

We'll go through ranking them between 1 and 5 Mockingjays. 1 being the lowest, 5 the highest!

Divergent - The Dauntless Faction

Here we have the two main characters of the film in their combat suits. The suits are simple, black, and nothing on them outwardly screams "courageous" like their motto suggests. Though, the outfits do seem to be very versatile and not too constricting. Because they live in a dystopian world where they don't get a lot of access to high-tech gear, I'll give them a bit of a break... but even ancient tribes can come up with ways to squeeze out more creative utility. Just sayin'.

Now, I realize this is a comic book movie but we can all agree that there are quite a few dystopian elements within this flick. The outfits here are nothing short of amazing. They are a simple black, yes, but they are designed well and have plenty of utility to them. Though, sometimes I wish they'd go with the iconic suits from the comics - because let's face it - no one would probably take Wolverine seriously if he wore his infamous yellow and black suit.

These may not be the best for combat for obvious limiting reasons, but the effectiveness this has as a rebel force sends a powerful message, which was the exact goal of the costume. So for an overall ranking of effectiveness...

Star Wars

The Stormtrooper armor is probably the most iconic suit of all time, but its effectiveness in combat is pretty iffy. I mean, how many times do the Stormtroopers have to shoot at Luke, Leia and Han just to then miss each time? It's no wonder really, their helmets don't allow a lot of visibility or rotation of the neck at all. Despite their favored aesthetic, I'd give the suits a solid...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Here we have two different suits to compare.

Firstly, we know that the rebel forces in Panem aren't going to be wearing the white suits in the propaganda video, those look like Capitol Peacekeepers. The rebels will be wearing actual combat suits with armor as seen in the teaser trailer drop below:

For the rebel forces I'd give a...

Katniss' red armor

Here's our first look at Katniss Everdeen's new red armor, released ahead of the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. Not only is the Mockingjay armor stylish, it's also practical for combat. But will we actually see it used in battle or will it be more of a propaganda tool? For what better way to inspire the rebellion than to don the fierce red color of the Mockingjay - the Girl on Fire?

And it also sends an uncompromising message to President Snow, declaring that those who fight in the rebellion are prepared to bleed when they go to war against the system.

For the defiant red and black Mockingjay armor I'd give...
