Lynch's talents were not only not put to good use in Dune, but was an inappropriate choice as director from the start. All the religious, political and metaphysical aspects from Herbert's 1965 Masterpiece novel are gone, and the film boasts some of the most head-scratching casting choices in history, made even worse by how inaccurately they represent the characters in the book.
