(Warning: SPOILERS for X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past lie below, so if you still aren't caught up on the X-Franchise, now's probably the time...)

There were a whole lot of things to love about X-Men: Days of Future Past - from its melding of the original and rebooted X-Men, via Quicksilver's shining moment, all the way through to that big reveal right at the end - but one of the most pleasant surprises was surely the (albeit brief) appearance of X-Men: First Class' Havok, all the way out in Vietnam.

With Lucas Till now set to reprise the role once again in X-Men: Apocalypse, however, it inevitably raises a pretty big question:

Just What Happened to the Rest of the X-Men: First Class Cast?

Other than teleporting off that beach...
Other than teleporting off that beach...

After all, while we now know exactly what became of Havok, as well as the leading lights like Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Beast, there were a whole lot of other heroes (and villains) hanging about back in First Class that we don't yet know the fates of.

Except, as it turns out, we totally do, and (fair warning) it's pretty darned horrifying.

Remember that whole scene where Mystique stumbles onto a whole bunch of autopsy pictures in Bolivar Trask's office?

Y'know, that one...
Y'know, that one...

Well then, you probably also remember that those pictures were of her old allies - and X-Men: First Class stars - Azazel and Angel...

Y'know, those ones...
Y'know, those ones...

...a tragic fate in which they were, sadly, seemingly not alone. As the movie reveals:

It Seems Everyone We Didn't See Return After First Class Died Before Days of Future Past...

But, since that's quite frankly too depressing to dwell on for too long (I mean, seriously - even Banshee?), it seemed that the best thing to do was to take a look at just what happened to each of the young heroes (and villains) alongside what the actors who played them are up to now.

Y'know, so as to avoid all the weeping.

First up, then?

Angel, a.k.a. Zoë Kravitz

What Happened to Her in the Movies? Well, as that above picture very much confirms, she was killed (and dissected) by Bolivar Trask.

What Happened to Her in Real Life? With appearances in the Divergent series and the widely-acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road, Kravitz' acting career is still going strong, to which she's added a successful music career with her band Lolawolf.

Azazel, a.k.a. Jason Flemyng

What Happened to Him in the Movies? Much like Angel, Azazel was evidently killed and dissected by Trask - though seeing as we're about to see (his and Mystique's comic book son) Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse, he may have fathered a kid before that.

What Happened to Him in Real Life? Flemyng - already a well known British character actor before First Class - has since largely stuck to UK-based projects, including the well received I Give It a Year, Welcome to the Punch and The Missing.

Banshee, a.k.a. Caleb Landry Jones

What Happened to Him in the Movies? It's not made 100% clear, but it sure sounds as though Banshee - a 'casualty' of the war - didn't make it out of his adventures alive. Here's hoping it was all an elaborate ruse, though...

What Happened to Him in Real Life? Since First Class, Jones has largely appeared in grittier, more horror-tinged fare, with Antiviral, Byzantium and Heaven Knows What being particularly notable.

Emma Frost, a.k.a. January Jones

What Happened to Her in the Movies? Much like Banshee, Emma apparently didn't make it to the 1970s alive - but since we didn't see a body, there's still a glimmer of hope for her...

What Happened to Her in Real Life? Aside from continuing her acclaimed work as Mad Men's Betty Draper, Jones has taken leading roles in films like Sweetwater and Good Kill (alongside her First Class co-star Zoë Kravitz) and is now starring in The Last Man on Earth on Fox.

Riptide, a.k.a. Alex Gonzalez

What Happened to Him in the Movies? Apparently no one involved in Days of Future Past remembered that Riptide was in First Class, so we actually have absolutely no idea... He has a little involvement in Gambit's comic book origins, though, so there's still hope for him...

What Happened to Him in Real Life? After First Class, Gonzalez headed back to his native Spain, and is now starring in the successful TV Series El Principe.

And, y'know what? That's all great - but I'm still seriously depressed about that whole 'horrible murdering of beloved characters' thing...

What do you think, though?
