In the words of Whitney Houston, "Crack is whack."

Drugs can cause a person's skin, teeth, and even psyche to change. And if you didn't believe that before, just check out these following stills of Spongebob Squarepants and his fellow inhabitants of Bikini Bottom from 1999 compared to 2014.

Warning: What you see might not be pretty...

Obviously, Spongebob and friends weren't on any drugs in the late '90s. I'd chalk it up to new advances in technology for animation that helped give our favorite characters a fresher look as opposed to that Krusty Krab appearance.

I'm also a fan of the fact that the characters began to look a little less cross-eyed. Sure, Spongebob and Patrick can be a little goofy, but imagine going through life with permanently crossed eyes. I don't think going jellyfishing would be easy in any way.

I still proudly enjoy watching Spongebob Squarepants at the age of 24, whether an older episode pops up or one of the newer ones. I know I will find myself laughing at Spongebob's silly antics, Patrick's constant state of confusion, and Squidward's monotone and drab personality.
