So if you haven't heard already [The Avengers: Infinity War](tag:738027) is going to be a two-part movie, (you see what you've you done, Harry Potter!?) and given how the Marvel Cinematic Universe is building up to Thanos, he's got some big shoes to fill, especially since for the entire MCU he's been kind of sitting in that chair I'm sure he got from the Evil Villain Master Mind furniture Emporium (probably shopping buddies with Emperor Palpatine), he's going to need a strong opener for when he finally steps into the ring.
Currently my biggest complaint with Marvel right now is the fact that nobody gets killed except for that one guy in Avengers 2 (will not divulge who because spoilers) and Thanos is supposed to be the most bad ass villain in the MCU right? What better way to convey that then to have Thanos off some people? In the words of (I can't believe I'm saying this) George Lucas, "The more difficult you make it for the hero the more interesting it is", and the best way to do that is to have a villain that the audience is actually worried could kill their favorites, because we all know the heroes have to win, it would be ballsy move for a movie to have the villains win and no followup where new heroes rise or something (take notes Hollywood).
The problem with everyone being safe in the MCU is we run the risk of it not being as interesting or as great of a two part conclusion that the Avengers need. Imagine how much more engaged we would've been for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) if Ultron's intro is he murders like two Avengers right off the bat? So here's my list of 10 heroes Thanos should murder in Infinity Wars (this order is not from greatest to least by the way).
#10. ROCKET RACCOON
First of all I love Rocket Raccoon, he's my favorite out of the Guardians of the Galaxy (sorry Chris Pratt you're close second) and that's precisely why he should get offed by Thanos because I think so many people like him and just imagine the shock of it. Plus it would give people like me who love Rocket a reason to hate Thanos, I mean I think he's a d*** but he hasn't done anything on screen for me to say, "okay you gotta die" - killing Rocket is a good way to do it.
Rocket is hot tempered and full of sass and I could picture him going out in some great last stand talking trash to Thanos before Thanos obliterates him with a blast from the Infinity Gauntlet with so much as lifting an eyebrow. This would send a clear message to the audience, NO ONE IS SAFE! And would be just the emotional kick to the nuts to get audiences even more invested, especially since we'll have to wait a whole year for the next one.
Gamora would be a good pick for Thanos' wrath because she betrayed him in Guardians of the Galaxy and I think Thanos has a Wu Tang Clan mentality of "Ain't nothing to f*** with!" and what better way to show how vicious he is than to off his own (adopted) daughter like some space mafia boss guy or something. StarLord would be pissed.
The reason why I say Thanos should kill Hulk is because he's the O.G Avenger's star player. Even Ultron knows not to mess with Hulk and that would give Thanos the street cred to be taken seriously especially if Hulk goes down in a spectacular fight and its not marketed in the trailers that Hulk is going to die. This would be interesting, especially with what happened between him and Black Widow in Age of Ultron. Plus I don't know about you all but if Hulk died I would think something along the lines of "Oh s*** what are they gonna do now?"
#7 CAPTAIN AMERICA
Captain America is the team leader so you'd think he's safe, uh how about no. I think his death would be a heavy hitter simply because he is the team leader HE IS the FIRST AVENGER. Plus then we can throw in Bucky Barnes to become the new Captain America just like the comics, or better yet give it to Falcon like in the more recent comics. I think if Thanos just popped out of nowhere and kills Steve Rodgers in like 4 seconds it would just be the right amount of shock, and then plus you can justify why part 1 might be mostly set up in the first place because Thanos just offed your team leader and everybody's going through shock.
#6 IRON MAN
This one was tough because I love Iron Man even Iron Man 2 (still got mixed feelings about the 3rd one), and like Rocket I think he's loved by a lot of people (dare I say most popular Marvel hero in MCU) and would really give us a reason to hate Thanos, plus Robert Downey Jr. doesn't want to do anymore solo Iron Man movies and wants to spend more time with his family so killing him off would be a smart move (take notes Marvel). Plus like Captain America, his replacements are already lined up, we can have War Machine take over as the new Iron Man (has happened in the comics), or that kid from Iron Man 3 would be a nice passing of the torch moment if Tony left the kid some Iron Man prototypes or something hidden away somewhere he knew only that kid could find it (sort of like the Dark Knight Rises ending).
Another of the old guard and part of the original Avengers, Thor starts to piece together what is really going on so it would make sense for Thanos' first move is to shut him up (no snitching Thor). Thor is a (debatable did get beat up by Iron Man) powerhouse so he would be sorely missed.
#4 THE VISION
This one is more for logic reasons due to events in Age of Ultron, Thanos is likely to come for the Vision in one way or another and given how he is either just as or more powerful than Thor himself he's a great asset to the team, plus since he has ties to Iron Man that I won't spoil, it would give Iron Man reason to hate Thanos.
He shrinks, Thanos laughs and stomps him 'nuff said.
Spider-Man's powers don't really seem like they'd work in space so I think he should be offed before anyone goes into outer space, maybe Thanos does a drive-by on Earth and Spider-Man tries to save the day but fails miserably, plus it will give us a reason to throw in Miles like everyone wants because we are so done with Peter Parker. (Sorry 2 reboots is 2 too many).
Black Widow nearly made this list. The only reason Hawkeye is up here is because of what's revealed about him in Age of Ultron which gives him more to live for and so therefore his death would be (although a tad obvious if you think about it) a good one because he has so much to live for out there. I like Hawkeye as a character, despite what others think about him, but there's just the fact that he is a normal human without any powers at all, what chance does he have against Thanos? Unless he gets some cool Guardians of the Galaxy style future bow (take notes again Marvel).
Was there anybody I missed? Which puny hero that you'd like to see Thanos Smite?
