The first issue of the epic conclusion to the 'Dark Knight' saga, The Dark Knight III: The Master Race is shipping out this fall! The awesome series featuring an older and brazen Batman started in 1986, with Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns! So it's only fitting that the final installment would release its first issue on the 30th anniversary of the book that started it all!
Being that it's San Diego Comic-Con weekend, and Batman is all about Comic-Con, some new details about the book have surfaced! First off, artists Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson will be joining Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello to work on the comic.
Not only that, but the book will feature a 16 page Dark Knight Universe comic, complete with a new guest artist and a rotating cast of characters in each one of its eight 32-page issues.
Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, Co-Publishers for DC Entertainment talked about The Dark Knight III in a recent press release.
“We went into this knowing that we had to give fans more. We’re pulling out all the stops to deliver an amazing conclusion to this exciting body of work. We hope it inspires the next generation of writers and artists, the way it has already inspired us.”
Not much is known about the plot of DKIII, but if rumors are to be believed, it'll have something to do with an aging Carrie Kelly searching for her replacement (can't be Robin forever). It's only day 1 of the SDCC madness, so who knows? Maybe we'll learn some more interesting details about this epic conclusion.
If not, you could always pick up the first issue of The Dark Knight III: The Master Race this fall!
