BBC has just released the trailer for Doctor Who season 9 slated for September 19.

“They’ve suddenly realised that they are the most fortunate people in all of time and space and are hell-bent on adventure. (The Doctor) is in pursuit of joy and grabbing every thrill that he can along the way. But I sense him running from something, that even he does not yet understand…”- Peter Capaldi

The first two episodes of the new series are titled “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar.” Both are written by Steven Moffat and directed by Hettie Macdonald. The series will include the return of Michelle Gomez's Missy. Episodes three and four, whose titles will be revealed later, are both written by Toby Whithouse and directed by Daniel O’Hara. Steven Moffat calls them ‘brilliantly creepy… one of our scariest adventures yet!’

Episode 5 of the new series will be titled “The Girl Who Died” and is written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat and directed by Ed Bazalgette. The episode will feature Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) in a guest role. It will be followed by episode 6, “The Woman Who Lived,” written by Catherine Tregenna and directed by Ed Bazalgette; episodes 7 and 8, written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim which will mark the return of the Zygons and Ingrid Oliver as Osgood; episode 9, of which there are no details; episode 10, written by Sarah Dollard and directed by Justin Molotnikov, which will feature the return of Joivan Wade as Rigsy; ending with episodes 11 and 12, both written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay.

Capaldi returns as the beloved Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman as the memorable Clara Oswald.
