In the context of almost three films of childhood-defining villainy, it might not have been the most obvious scene to break the hearts of a generation - and yet Darth Vader's tragic death scene at the end of Return of the Jedi has long-since become one of the most heart-wrenching cinematic moments of all time.

After all, there aren't too many things more heartbreaking in life than watching a child lose their parent - and when that loss comes immediately after one of the great redemptions in cinema history, it's doubly painful.

I mean, just look at it:

It's downright sob-inducing...

Save some of those tears, though, because art director, designer and illustrator Dan Hipp has just come up with a way to make the sequence even more heartbreaking - by taking a look at just what was going through Darth Vader's mind during that whole sequence, in just about the most adorable (and gut-wrenching) way possible:

I mean...just...no. That's just too sad.

Just.

Too.

Sad.

And...now I have to go and watch Return of the Jedi again.

Nicely played, Mr. Hipp. Nicely played...

What do you think, though?
