We're still reeling after the revelations in the [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](tag:722469) finale, and with Skye setting off to form her own team season 3 is looking even more exciting than ever! If you're a comic nut, you know just what this might mean for the team, but there are still lots of unanswered questions, like how will this tie into the Inhumans movie? Is Agents of Shield going to do a Kree vs Inhumans showdown? Or will the start of Skye's team lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a Secret Invasion plot?

Just who are the Secret Warriors?

Ok, explanation time. The Secret Warriors are a super powered Shield team. Lead by Nick Fury in the comics, they are an important factor in the Secret Invasion plotline, which sees Earth under attack by the shapeshifting alien Skrulls (more on that later). Oh, and did we mention? Daisy Johnson is one of the founding members of this team. And we all know what Skye's birth name is...

Giving Skye superpowers was a really awesome move on the part of the Agents of Shield creators. Not only did it finally give us the first human super powered lady in the MCU (yep, it's taken this long), and provide fantastic development for Skye (she started out mistrusting the Avengers and Shield!), this is a neat tie in to a very exciting comic plotline.

Season 3 will see Skye start to form her team, and seek out more Inhumans that are just emerging. At the end of the finale, Coulson referred to the new team as the "Caterpillars", an alias that the Secret Warriors use in the comic canon. So what does this mean for Shield, and the MCU in general?

Aliens and Agents and Inhumans, oh my!

I'm willing to bet that this isn't the last we've heard of the Kree. The blue skinned aliens have been part of two major arcs in Agents of Shield. They are of course responsible for the Inhumans' first creation: during a vicious war centuries ago, Kree scientists came to Earth and genetically enhanced humans, hoping to create a disposable and superpowered army. We've already seen one Kree soldier come to Earth to try and clean up the Inhuman mess. Though the team managed to pack him off home, it's likely we haven't seen the last of this formidable alien race. And what's going to happen if they ever find out that Shield used one of their own to create Project T.A.H.I.T.I.? I doubt they'll be too happy about that...

Skye's got the right idea.

Season 3 could very well deal with the consequences of the Kree finding out just what their Earthling neighbours have been up to. This could be the start of the MCU's version of the Secret Invasion plotline....

In the comics, the Secret Warriors are called upon to help defend the Earth against the Skrulls: could this have been the mysterious foe the Kree fought centuries ago? Shield's next season could see the Earth become the battleground for three races at once!

And what about the movies? The Inhumans film isn't going to come out for a few years, and whether it will feature characters from the show remains to be seen. Agents of Shield is known to feed off the events of the movies, providing us with a well rounded view of this world. Will the Inhumans movie mark the first time the reverse becomes true, when the events of Agents of Shield provide the basis for a film plot? It's fairly unlikely, but there's definitely a lot of build up coming in the next seasons of Shield (and it would be awesome to see Coulson back on the big screen!)

What's next for the team?
What's next for the team?

With a potential war brewing, and an unfriendly alien race to contend with, season 3 is not going to be easy for Skye's new team. Let's hope they can pull together and co-ordinate their powers, before it's too late!

Should Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 do the Secret Invasion plotline?
