This article contains pretty big spoilers regarding Ant-Man.
When Marvel does something, they do it big. Ant-Man is no exception to this. With the movie set to be released on July 17, 2015, fans have only one more week until the next Marvel movie takes over the big screen. The movie itself is enough to get fans overwhelmed with anticipation. But today, we have some major news that will turn that excitement into tears of joy. Be warned - major spoilers are down below.
There Will Be Both A Mid-Credit And End-Credit Scene In Ant-Man!
With [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) not offering fans anything for a mid/end credit scene, we were all a little disappointed. But now, we may just know why. At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, we saw Captain America and Black Widow training their new Avengers; Scarlet Witch, Falcon, War Machine and Vision. While this was a monumental prelude to what Captain America: Civil War will have to offer, Ant-Man has a whole lot to offer us on the matter that will be revealed mostly during the mid/end credit scenes. Without further ado, let us begin.
After a recent TV spot hit the internet, fans got a quick sneak peek at the Falcon in Ant-Man. The Falcon will actually some scenes in the movie, but he will also play a huge role in end credit scene. But we'll get back to this in a moment, as the mid-credit scene reveals a new hero that will be playing a huge part in Ant-Man's future ventures.
Wasp Is Coming
Ever since it was announced that Hank Pym was not our 'true' Ant-Man, but actually Scott Lang, fans have been circulating the internet trying to figure out what that means for the Wasp and her inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well today, we have that answer. According to https://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/07/10/spoilers-ahead-captain-america-civil-war-will-feature-a-new-neutral-avenger-3371214?lt_source=external,manualcomicbookmovie.com:
In the mid-credits scene for Ant-Man, "Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) gives the Wasp costume with wings to Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly)" and "Hank explains to Hope what happened to Hope's mother Janet Van Dyne."
Wow - what a great job Marvel is doing with addressing all the different characters who have been both Ant-Man and the Wasp. But back to it. So, Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, gives Hope Van Dyne her Wasp technology, and then drops possibly the biggest emotional bomb we've seen thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that makes sense, as one thing we've learned about heroes is they don't just wake up one day and decide to save the world. No, they go through a crucible; something so emotionally fracturing that would break most. But through these crucibles, heroes are forged. Looks like Hope is about to get hers, and out of those flames will come the Wasp! But if you think the mid-credit scene is something to get giddy about, just keep reading.
Falcon, Captain America and The Winter Soldier
That's right folks - our dynamic duo will be making a debut together in the end-credit scene of the film! This is monumental news for fans as it alludes to the future of team Cap will be running in Captain America: Civil War. Again by comicbookmovie.com:
As for the post-credits scene, "Captain America (Chris Evans) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) have located The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) to a remote location where The Winter Soldier is tied up." Falcon asks Cap, "Should I call Stark?" He replied "No," before Falcon says, "I know who to call," referring to Ant-Man. Falcon appears in key scenes in the movie.
Adding credibility to the above descriptions, the finalized Ant-Man cast list confirms that Anthony Mackie is definitely in the movie while Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan have "uncredited" roles. Evidently, they all, including Paul Rudd, return in Captain America: Civil War.
Now this is what we've been waiting to hear. Being that the Falcon will be involved in a few scenes of the actual movie, it only makes that he'd be looking for Bucky still. As for Captain America, it's probably safe to assume his role will be only in the end-credit scene, but maybe we'll get lucky! Either way, there's a lot to take from this news.
Ant-Man Joining Cap's Avengers
It's safe to assume that, since Cap tells Falcon NOT to call Iron Man, the civil war tension has begun. Coupled with Falcon's response "I know who to call" and the fact that he's in Ant-Man in actual scenes, Marvel basically spelled it out for us that Ant-Man is going to be on Cap's Avengers. It's interesting that the righteous Captain America would pick a former thief to join his team, but then again, he's going to need all the help he can get. But if the Falcon and Captain America have only "located" Bucky, then what does that mean for his role in the film?
Well, it could mean one of two things:
1. The Winter Soldier will be seen in Ant-Man scenes aside from the end-credit scene. This would make some sense actually, since we saw Scott ask Hank to call the Avengers in to deal with Yellow Jacket. We know the Avengers have way too much on their plate to deal with something so trivial, but Falcon coming into scenes hints that maybe we will see a glimpse or two of Bucky before the credits roll.
2. He is just in the end-credit scene. While I'd rather see a quick peek of Bucky in the actual film itself (it would make Falcon's arrival not so...random), the end-credit scene does sound like this is where we'll actually get to see him. At least we're finally closing in on The Winter Soldier, leading up to Bucky hopefully joining the Avengers in the upcoming battles.
That's pretty much it. We have Hope Van Dyne becoming the Wasp, two Avengers appearing in the end-credit scene (and Falcon in the actual film) and our missing Bucky has finally been located. The ramifications all this will have on the Civil War are going to be tremendous, and I for one cannot wait to see the direction they take it.
