Fans of the hit CW show Arrow have been on the edge of their seats to find out who will be cast the new main villain for the fourth installment in the series. Well ladies and gentlemen, look no further, because the cat's out of the bag!
That's correct - the CW has cast Neal McDonough as villain Damien Darhk in Arrow Season 4.
Though no on-screen appearance has been made as of yet, Ra's Al Ghul did mention Darhk towards the end of season 3. Darhk was originally a member of the League of Assassin's, but left after he was not chosen to the next demon's head. But before he made his great escape, he did manage to take with him a Lazarus Pit of his own - which spells big trouble for our heroes come season 4.
The Arrow producer, according to comicbook.com, describes Darhk as
“a mysterious and sophisticated villain, and an adversary of the late Ra’s Al Ghul. Now the leader of his own clandestine group, this cunning foe will prove to be one of the Arrow’s greatest challenges.”
Now, let's not forget another huge plot this season H.I.V.E. Not only the organization that hired Deadshot to execute Diggle's brother Andy, but also the birth child of Darhk himself. This, coupled with his own Lazarus Pit, spells major trouble for team Arrow, and possibly the entire DCTV universe as a whole, as both Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) and Grant Gustin (Flash) have said that they will be crossing over a lot this season with each other's shows, as well as with the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow by DC, and that all three shows will share a common villain. According to variety,
“We do have crossovers planned,” says DC chief content officer Geoff Johns. “The point of building these three shows out on the CW network is we can make a comicbook world. That’s really the secret formula starting to emerge on television for the first time.”
McDonough’s prevous television work includes a role in TNT’s Mob City and appearances in FX’s Justified and even USA’s hit show Suits.
Arrow Season 4 premieres Oct. 7 on The CW at 8 o'clock.
