If you’re a comic book fan, today wasn’t just a good day. It was one of the best days of your life. If you haven’t vanished off planet earth, you’ve heard of San Diego Comic Con, and are aware it’s going on this weekend. As comic fans rejoiced around the world to come together and celebrate their heroes, everyone else watched online for all the goodies that dropped over the week. And oh my, plenty of goodies dropped.
It was a great time in Hall H for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the cast and crew got together and showed the “Making of” video to the audience. The Hasbro toy line is set to launch on ‘Force Friday’, which is September 3rd at midnight. Mark your calendars everyone. I’m going to snag an army of stormtroopers and a TIE-fighter, in case you were wondering.
But the biggest treat of the weekend wasn’t from “Star Wars” or “Marvel.” It was surprisingly from DC Comics. Who? What? Just kidding. We all love DC, for those of us who read comics. The new “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice “ Trailer dropped. And it was…(Wait for it)…Magnificent. I was blown away by how much I screamed like a little girl during the three and a half minutes of epic film. We were introduced to Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, who looks like she can kick ass and is stunning as ever. I wasn’t sold when Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor, but man was I wrong. What a spoiled-brat, snob little punk he will be. I cannot wait to see what the new adaptations of these characters will bring to the screen.
In the trailer we also get to see Superman facing public scrutiny for the destruction of metropolis, hate from Bruce Wayne, and just about anyone really. And then there is Bat-Fleck. Oh Affleck, how you could become the greatest on-screen Batman I’ve seen is beyond comprehension. Everyone mocked and laughed at every casting choice this film has made. Yet every time I’m shown footage, or new images drop; I laugh and smile like the fan girl I am. I won’t spoil the whole trailer, but plenty of Easter eggs in the bat cave, and throughout Gotham as well.
If Zack Snyder is good at anything, it’s that he’s capable of redeeming himself. While you may not be fond of “Man Of Steel”, He and DC are stepping up big time for this film. Get ready for DC Comics to destroy the box office next year. For the first time, they’re going to give Marvel a “Civil War.”
