My first year at Comic-Con (THE Comic-Con) will definitely not be my last. To say it was amazing would be an insult to an understatement. From seeing the stars to seeing all of the different kinds of cosplay, I could barely begin to explain how much fun I've had over the past few days. But I'll give it a try.
Walking around the Heart of San Diego on the first day, was great. It's a beautiful place, full of (expensive) stores and some of the best restaurants that I have ever been to.
But that was nothing, compared to the days to come. There were a lot of people wandering around, but the number was nowhere near how many people were going to be flooding the streets the day of Comic-Con. Personally, I can't stand crowds. They stress me out because you have people walking at the speed of constipation, groups who stop in the middle of everything, and you're enclosed in a space, restricted from going at your own pace. But I survived. It was Comic-Con! Those kind of things were expected and accepted.
The promotion going on outside of the Con was insane. Yes, there were tons of other things going on outside of the Convention Center during this spectacular event. There was even a group of young women dressed up as sharks to promote the movie Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
They were running around with whistles, megaphones, and lots of free stuff. My pockets and bags were full of random cards and props handed to me by an infinite amount of promoters. But guys, let me tell you. That was nothing. Just a breeze relative to the whirlwind I was caught up in immediately after stepping into the convention center.
The atmosphere reeked of nerdiness and aggressively dragged me down to the Planet "Holy sh*t it's Comic-Con." Stopping to look around at my new home, I was taken aback by everything I saw. The cosplay and all of the different booths were extremely overwhelming. I did not know what to do with myself except stand there in complete awe... and hug Furbacca.
I took in my surroundings, as we began to walk around, to explore the eighth wonder of the world. There were booths full of toys, cards, games, and of course comic books. I am now realizing that I was too excited to take pictures of the comic booths that completely blew me away. Kicking down invisible doors is what I do when I'm super stoked, and that's exactly what I did, after being overwhelmed by how many comic books were in my presence.
Let me tell you guys about something that was off-site called Nerd HQ; it definitely lives up to its name. There were video games, drinks, and couches where you could chill and charge your devices. Pretty neat, huh? At the HQ, we were able to play the new Battlefront game on PC and the PS4, as well as try out Sony's upcoming Project Morpheus, which was phenomenal. Aside from the sweet and exclusive games, you could take pictures with the power rangers, or whoever you were with. Here's one of me and the gang, minus two.
I'm extremely glad that I didn't have to wander this geek paradise alone. Everyone that was a part of the trip, everyone that I met, lived with, spoke with, chilled with, you guys were a huge part of this sublime experience.
There isn't much left to say about this experience of mine that left me utterly speechless. Honestly, I'm at a loss for words. I'll never forget the trip, the people who were a part of it, and neither will I forget how it made me feel. That's right, things just got emotional. To end this one, I'm going to share with you guys a couple photos of the great cosplay that I was able to see at SDCC 2015.
P.S. Some of these may be poor quality. But still. Enjoy. (:
