We have all seen our fair share of Batman cosplays, pictures, and art. And trust me when I say that I have probably seen too much. I thought that I had seen it all, until I saw the Batman art created by Vartan Garnikyan. Vartan takes it to the next level, combining contemporary and classical art, leaving you in awe. Vartan took already famous paintings and added a Batman twist (as well as the Joker) and making something that is incredible. Now enough talking, let's get to the art.
The Creation of Batman
In Vartan's own words,
"They say God created Adam in his image, right? I'm sure all Batman fans would agree (at least I do) that God's image of man... was Batman. If you take things like morals and integrity into consideration, I'm not far off."
That may be taking it a little to far, but the painting looks incredible.
This piece is a take on the Mona Lisa. Vartan said that he got the inspiration for the piece from the museum scene in Tim Burton's Batman.
American Gothic is one of Vartan's favorite paintings. And he said that the idea for the piece started as a joke. He told his brother that it would be funny if he could remake the famous painting into a Batman version of Silence of The Lambs.
Jared Leto's face perfectly fits the painting. But as the artist said, the background isn't very close to the original. But honestly, no one pays attention to the background.
My personal favorite. This painting depicts the scene in The Dark Knight when the Joker sticks his head out of the car window. The artist said that it took over a year to completely finish the piece.
