The stars of Wreck -It Ralph have bagged themselves an extra life, set to respawn in the newly confirmed sequel, which may well star Nintendo's iconic mascot Mario!

John C. Reilly, who voiced the original movie's good-guy-programmed-bad, Ralph, told fans at Galway Film Fleadh that he's signed on for more video game-themed hi-jinks in Wreck-It Ralph 2, so look forward to more geeky hilarity like this:

It's also been hinted that Disney are in discussions with Nintendo over getting classic characters like Mario, Luigi and Link to appear in the movie. My favorite part of the first film was seeing all the nods and references to the industry's icons, but I was rather surprised that the red-hatted plumber never made an appearance.

Luckily, it looks like director Rich Moore is looking to rectify that oversight:

We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film. To be able to present him in the sequel, would be great.

It's not a confirmation, but I'll take it.
