The talk of the 2015 cinematic year has been focused on two very hyped up films; Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad.

Comic-book lovers and superhero fans are already geared up to compare and dissect both films. They are coming into this with already a little bit of bias. I, on the other hand, do not really care. Here is an unbiased take on what we can expect.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice looks super dark and depressing. It also looks insanely intense, like a film that will punch you square in the face.

It looks like a film that will become one of two things...

a) It will become THE legendary superhero film, with two of the most well-known superheroes battling it out whilst a third extremely popular superhero jumps into the ring (Wonder Woman).

b) It will be overwhelmingly dark and gloomy, with little to no joy and nothing but long sequences of talking or fighting.

I've seen this trailer a few times, and I personally think this movie will be a rollercoaster of boring sequences and thrilling sequences.

I feel like most people will come into this film waiting for the unreal battle between Batman & Superman, but will be shocked at just how long it takes to reach that point. I'm sure this movie won't disappoint the fans, but as a person who doesn't give a shit about comics or superheroes, I think this movie looks pretty boring.

MY OVERALL VERDICT: I think it will be filled with boring, unconvincing dialogue that will eventually lead us to an epic action sequence. 90% of fans will forgive the shortcomings of the film so long as the action sequence is done well. That seems to be the case with a lot of superhero films.

Let's move on:

Suicide Squad looks super dark too... not for young children. It is also super intriguing to me. I feel like there will be many elements rolled into one with this film.

Those who adore certain characters from the comic-books are already at fault with the look and casting of some of these characters. Just keep in mind, I Don't Care. I know hardly any of these characters (save for Harley and The Joker). The rest of them intrigue me immensely.

This movie looks exciting! It looks like there are enough great actors and interesting characters to keep the movie flowing with consistent entertainment. It looks like both the dialogue and the action in this film will be riveting. The only problem is: none of the characters are as iconic as Batman & Superman. That's why I doubt this film will garner as much attention.

While I haven't been a fan of comic-book films these past few years, Suicide Squad is one I'm definitely going to see.

MY OVERALL VERDICT: I think Suicide Squad won't do as well at the box-office, but I feel it will probably get better critic and audience reviews. It looks dark, fun, and like uncharted territory in the world of comic-book movies.

I think the difference here is that I don't know what to expect from Suicide Squad, and that's a damn good thing. Intrigue breeds an exciting experience at the cinema. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice laid it all out on the line, and I feel like I've seen the movie already. Of course I'll still go see it, but I can tell I'll probably be twiddling my thumbs as the build-up to the action sequence gets too repetitive.

Which movie would you rather see?
