Horror fans don't get too many opportunities to get their "horror fix" during the summer months. For instance, we recently got Insidious Chapter 3 and the disappointing Poltergeist. The Gallows, however, did a great job marketing itself. What with the creation of the Charlie Charlie challenge and advertising as one of the scariest movies ever.
The movie had a great plot, trapping students inside their school with a vengeful spirit. Schools are already creepy at night, so adding an angry ghost to the mix seemed like a great idea. We all have ghost stories from schools in our hometowns.
The film has a good amount of humor while it builds to the climax. I do feel this, like most current horror movies, relies solely on jump scares. There were some frightening moments and a great twist ending. Overall, it was a decent film, but I did expect a little bit more from this film.
