You may know by now that rapper, actor, producer, and business mogul Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy yesterday. He's of course tied to Southpaw as well as the Starz original series Power. Although he made a big investment that paid dividends with Vitamin Water and has had a highly successful rap career, it appears he is now struggling to pay off his debts.

It is important to realize that this doesn't necessarily mean the man is broke. He is protecting his assets, but the main thing for a lot of celebrities to take from this is that your money and status can't protect you forever. If you spend frivolously, you will end up in a lot of trouble.

Funnily enough, 50 went to Instagram to show he's still in good spirits with a joke photo standing next to a Smart Car and captioning - pretty perfectly - about his financial situation:

Times are hard out here LMAO #EFFENVODKA #FRIGO #SMSAUDIO

Something makes me think he'll end up okay, but still... come on, 50. Get your shit together, man! Somehow, knowing 50, this actually is a vaguely shrewd publicity move. He's got a movie on the way, and I might see it now since it's back on my radar. But, to be honest, I think that Creed looks way better as far as boxing related movies go.

Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal and 50 Cent hits theaters July 24, 2015.
