[DC's Legends of Tomorrow](tag:2937021) is probably the CW's most ambitious take on a live adaptation of comic book characters. Not only because of the new and old characters surfacing, i.e. Rip Hunter and Black Canary (now white) respectively, but the fact that we will be dealing with a new, beloved, and downright badass villain that we have never seen an adaptation of before. The stakes are high for the show-runners to give us the right actor that could play such a complex role, hence I have compiled a list of actors that could play a charismatic yet menacing character.
1. Joe Manganiello
Standing at 6'5, Joe would physically fit the attributes of Vandal Savage (mostly New 52 Savage as shown below). He also possesses the aged yet somewhat young look perfectly embodying Vandal's immortality. In terms of acting, he hasn't really had his breakout film yet, but he had landed a role in True Blood as a werewolf which upped his stardom. He also has appeared in movies such as Sabotage, What to Expect When You're Expecting, Magic Mike (Sigh), and Spider-man. Overall, I believe his physical attributes as well as his brawny nature in accordance with his slight humor found in Magic Mike can overall lead him to becoming the perfect portrayal of Vandal Savage.
2. Ray Stevenson
Another colossal actor, but this one with a variety of acting skills. He has played the brawny comic-relief Volstagg in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, the menacing Redridge in Book of Eli, and the utterly brute and vengeance-filled Frank Castle in The Punisher: War Zone. And those movies are only a few that show the dexterity of Ray. Therefore, I believe the qualities found in his works can all lead to a savage Vandal Savage to be molded.
3. Oded Fehr
Standing at 6'2, here is yet another perfect build for Mr. Savage. In terms of ethnicity, I believe Oded would fit nicely with Vandal Savage. He has experience with playing a mystic and ancient character who also is familiar with weapons (The Mummy). In addition, he has played a violent yet humorous character in the Resident Evil franchise. Considering his theatrical work, physical attributes as well as ethnicity, there is no denying the fact that he could pull off a convincing Vandal Savage.
4. Luke Evans
British accent, villain-eque (Owen Shaw in Fast and Furious 6), and 'Son of the Devil'....Check, check and check. He may not stand as high menacing like the rest of the actors on this list, but he sure can play the cold-blooded nature of Vandal Savage. His cunning look, his antagonist role in Fast and Furious 6 and his sheer mercilessness in Dracula Untold all contribute towards a worthy iteration of Vandal.
5. Simon Kassianides
Simon is not someone I would expect to play Vandal Savage, but his portrayal of Sunil Bakshi in [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](tag:722469) captured my attention. He was a deceptive, cunning, and a charismatic antagonist that was so meticulous with his moves. I believe this aspect of him fits nicely with Vandal Savage's. Although we have not seen him as brawny and menacing, I believe he can still express Vandal's calculated side.
Benicio Del Toro
