In 1973 the film Westworld was released under the direction of Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton. The sci-fi western was set in a high-tech theme park that was staffed by robots who authentically replicated Roman, cowboy and medieval times. After the park's computer system breaks down, the robots ran amok and guests found themselves stalked by a gunslinging robot, played by Yul Brynner.
The movie was pretty iconic, and over four decades later, HBO have been working on a TV adaptation with Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams at the helm. The Westworld TV series is also set to star Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Thandie Newton.
After spending quite a long time in development, HBO have now announced that the show will debut in 2016, and after debuting a trailer at Comic-Con, have released some brilliant looking images to pique interest. The premise of the show itself sounds amazing, and the images look even more promising, take a look:
James Marsden and Evan Rachel Wood pictured here as Teddy Flood and Dolores.
Thandie Newton definitely looks the part in this image, she will play Maeve Millay.
Anthony Hopkins will play Dr. Robert Ford, the creative director of Westworld. Here he is pictured with Jeffrey Wright who plays Bernard Lowe, the head of the programming division.
