Merlin's beard, Potterheads! Fans far and wide, open your ears and feast your eyes upon what might be one of the coolest Harry Potter shorts I've seen in a long, long time. It takes a look at one of the most intriguing periods of pre-Potter history, Severus Snape and his relationship with the Marauders.

The Broad Strokes collective, the brains behind the Harry Potter Untold Facebook page and the short film about Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindewald titled The Greater Good, started a crowdfunding campaign to build upon J.K. Rowling's magical universe.

Lucky for us, their goal was met, they finished shooting, and they released their first teaser trailer yesterday! Check out our first good look at Severus Snape and the Marauders below:

The official synopsis of the film promises plenty of drama between the Hogwarts graduates and their Slytherin rival at the dawn of the first Wizarding war:

Set in 1978, just after Harry Potter’s father James graduates from Hogwarts, he and his friends Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew celebrate at a bar, contemplating their place in a war they are to soon become a part of. When Severus Snape enters the same bar, James Potter decides to do something about Snape once and for all.

"Difficult day?"
"Trust me, it's nothing special."

The Marauders

Here we see Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and James Potter celebrating their graduation from Hogwarts.

Snape and Lily reunited

The film suggests Lily still hasn't forgiven Severus for what he said to her.

Playing nice

Based on the teaser trailer, it's clear that Snape won't be brushed off that easily.

Now that the Harry Potter generation is growing up and can make things like this, I expect our fan fiction skills are only going to get better, and this short film is evidence of that. How will James and Severus stack up against each other in a duel? I guess we'll just have to wait and find out!

Severus Snape and the Marauders will be available on YouTube this December for your viewing pleasure!
