Disney seems to have recently joined a craze for making live action remakes of our favourite classics, but how about a prequel?
It's safe to say that I've already been pleasantly surprised by Disney's live-action making capabilities, as shown by their live-action version of 'Cinderella'. It was a great experience from start to finish, laced with amazing actors and actresses as well as a more in depth side to the old Disney princess film. There's been talks about a live action Mulan and even a live action Beauty and the Beast, which has been 100% confirmed. Today it has been said that Disney will be releasing a film called "Genies", which will act as a prequel to their 1992 film Aladdin.
The outlet added that the film was a good way to peer into the "realm of the Genies" and possibly add more back story to the Genie in Aladdin, voiced by the late Robin Williams. Apparently the writers of the 'Friday the 13th' remakes, Damien Shannon and Mark Swift, have been connected to the script of the film which hasn't yet got a release date.
Disney has given release dates to it's other live action creations in the works. The Jungle Book is to be released on the 15th of April 2016, being followed by the aforementioned remake of Beauty and the Beast which is set to hit theatres on the 17th of March 2017. After the films that are definitely headed our way there's also been talks of a Tim Burton directed Dumbo, and maybe even a live action version of the classic film Pinnochio! It seems like we have a lot of promising work coming from Disney in the close future!
