After the release of the Apocalypse concept art, we knew were in for a different take at Apocalypse, and the comic con trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse somewhat confirmed that. However, the cover for Entertainment Weekly released today gave us our first clear picture of what/who Oscar Issac was portraying, and sadly, I am not fully satisfied.
Magneto and Pslocke are looking great, they look like their comic-book counterparts, but BRYAN SINGER YOU HAD ONE JOB! We, or I wanted a faithful adaptation of Apocalypse, well physically for now, and I know I shouldn't be quick to judge but the above Apocalypse doesn't look menacing at all.
Even Storm looks dope with her mohawk and her outfit, but it's just apocalypse who looks so human! I know he can alter his size and such, but it's the facial features that throw me off, where is that scowl that crevice on each side of his mouth that gives him that grumpy look. Now, I do appreciate they took the time with the costume to make him look 'ancient egyptian', but I cannot get over the fact that he looks like a weary old man instead of a thundering, 'peed in my pants', Godly-Apocalypse. But I'll do my best not to bash no more since these are only a few images and we have not seen his full scope.
