First, lets take a look at the films domestic opening weekend, where it opened to $115.7 million, which is the second-highest grossing domestic opening for an animated film, only behind 'Shrek the Third' which opened to $121.6 million back in 2007, and finished it's domestic run with $322.7 million. As of today, only 4 animated films have crossed $100 million in their opening weekend, which include, 'Shrek the Third', 'Minions', 'Toy Story 3' and 'Shrek 2', while 2/4 of those have crossed $400 million in the U.S and Canada. Despicable Me opened to $56 million in 2010, and ended with $251 million, while Despicable Me 2 opened to $83 million in 2013, and finished with $368 million. If it follows on Despicable Me 2's path, the film will earn around $413 million in the U.S and Canada. But following Despicable Me's path, $396 million is in play. Though, a final domestic gross of $361 million is pretty concluding. Internationally, Despicable Me grossed $292 million, while Despicable Me 2 grossed $602 million internationally, again, if the film follows Despicable Me 2's path, $675 million is at hand, but following Despicable Me's path, $550 million is at hand, though a final tally of about $717 million can be at hand. So in the end, if the film follows Despicable Me's path, the film will earn about $946 million, if the film follows Despicable Me 2's path, the film will gross $1.09Billion, but if the film can go on it's own path, the film will earn $1.08Billion.
