When I first heard that Marvel was creating an Ant-Man movie, I honestly thought it was weird. While I had seen Ant-Man in the Avengers TV Show (Earth's Mightiest Heroes), I still found the idea of a movie a little strange. Then the trailer came out, which didn't increase my hopes for the movie that much; although I was open to the idea that it could be good. Up until the point that I began watching the movie in the theater, I had low expectations for the movie.
To my surprise, Ant-Man actually turned out to be pretty good. I expected some casual Marvel humor, and was met with so much more! (Any of you who have already seen it know I'm talking about Luis.) Also, the story was written a little better than I had expected, since the trailers made the movie seem slightly pointless to me. In fact, while it was not written like most other Marvel movies (that are currently released), it had a really good story, as well as an interesting take on the Ant-Man lore (which may cause some fans to complain, but not me in this case). All together, Ant-Man turned out to be a pretty good movie!
One thing that I must note is that Ant-Man was a movie I didn't expect to impress me; which is why it did. What I mean is that if my expectations were set as high as most other superhero movies, I may not have enjoyed it that much. Perhaps it's just me, but having relatively low expectations when viewing Ant-Man is the one piece of advice that I suggest.
In conclusion, go see Ant-Man with a friend, or even a whole group of friends (which is what I did)! Go for some great humor and some good action, and be aware of where your expectations are. Perhaps you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
Ant-Man is the story of a thief named Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who finds a special suit that can shrink him to the size of an ant. As Scott is trained how to use the suit by Hank Pym (Micheal Douglas), Scott also embarks on a mission to stop a threat that could later result in the destruction of the world.
Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket.
