I've read way too many comics and watched too many movies to function in normal society.

Back in March of this year the internet went into meltdown because District 9 and Chappie director, Neill Blomkamp posted some concept artwork for a then imaginary Alien movie. Fast forward to today and some more Alien art has hit the nerdvine and with it the confirmation that the new Alien movie is a go. According to EmpireOnline details of the plot are sketchy at best with some question as to whether the new movie falls between Aliens and Alien 3 or ignores Alien 3 and Resurrection and forges ahead with a whole new timeline. I’d imagine the latter given the ages of the actors involved and the current trend towards ‘rebootquells’ as seen with Terminator Genesys and Jurassic World.

The new pic indicates that Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and Michael Biehn’s Hicks are very much the core of the new project. As to whether or not Newt or Bishop will return remains a mystery.

There’s still no release date, but given the Development-Hell that could still await this project, I wouldn’t expect to see it before 2020.
