Hey MoviePilot Readers! What's up? This is my first official post here and since all I can think about this week is the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer, why not just break the ice by listing off all my favorite parts of it because seriously......why the heck talk about anything else?? Alright, let's go!
When this scene popped up all I could think was "Oh...Sugar.Honey.Ice.Tea.". They're doing it!! They're really linking it up to 'Man of Steel'!! But not only are they linking it with 'Man of Steel' they are LITERALLY placing Bruce Wayne IN METROPOLIS! He was there!! Do you even know what this means?? This means the next time that I watch 'Man of Steel' (Tonight) I can point and go "That's where Bruce Wayne was!"
This is awesome, someone put the scenes together too.
For me when I first heard that Ben Affleck was cast as Batman all I could think of was "WHAT!?! BEN AFFLECK!?! BEN AFFLECK!?!". Not because I disliked him or thought he couldn't act or had someone better in mine. But because I literally did NOT see that coming. Once I got over the surprise, I settled in and thought 'Okay, this is my Bruce Wayne. This is my Batman now" but some concern came over me. Not because I didn't believe that Ben Affleck could pull off the role. But because I've been very skeptical when it comes to the portrayal of Bruce Wayne. My most recent memory of Bruce Wayne in live action is Christian Bale's who I did not care for.
He was a good Batman, but....It's hard to explain, you know? Sure, Bruce Wayne is the other side of Batman, his "Secret Identity" to the outside world as the Charismatic Billionaire Playboy (I feel like Bale only portrayed the last two parts), but Bruce Wayne is also a Philanthropist and someone that cares deeply about Gotham and while he's fighting crime and cleaning up the streets of Gotham at night, during the day he puts on his Bruce Wayne costume and gives back to Gotham and trying to make it a wonderful place prosperous place that he and everyone that lives there can think of as home and feel proud of. But most of all he CARES and right here just in his face, I can see he CARES the emotions he shows as he watches that building go down, not as Batman but as Bruce Wayne is something I'm not use to.
Just the emotions Bruce Wayne (Affleck) puts out here, it's just so.....ugh! It's so insanely wonderful. But also I love this scene because it takes me back to a couple of scenes in the comic books and animated series. You'll see Batman be a rough vigilante to the criminals, but when it comes to the kids, Batman doesn't play. He always takes care to not scare them and make them feel safe because he remembers that he was once a scared and frightened little kid.
Unfortunately, we don't get to hear Clark/Superman/Kal-El speak for this entire trailer (I'm still conflicted if that's Perry White or Clark talking about the Bat vigilante) but....I included this because.....GOD DAMN Henry Cavill looks good with glasses on.
Okay also I really love the line 'Nobody cares about Clark Kent taking on the Batman!" from Perry White and then Clarks "Really, Dude?". I care Clark....I care.
I LOVE this line. It wasn't as if she was saying "or be none of it" like "TO HELL WITH ALL THOSE STUPID PEOPLE, LET THEM DIE!!". It was clearly a Scene where Clark was conflicted since he's trying to do good, but people are against him for it, and a mother seeing that her son is hurting and telling him that he should remember that if he chooses to be Superman, he's choosing to be their monument and hero, but at the same time it's HIS choice and he doesn't owe anyone anything, since he's putting his life on the line all of his own free will. I love that the Kent's aren't about forcing this sort of ideal on Clark but about giving him the choice to be the type of man HE wants to be.
Not much to say here, but it just makes me super excited how much this is connecting back to 'Man of Steel'. I just wonder what could they possibly be using his body for.
This was just awesome for the fact that we're getting little gems from the Batman Universe and that there IS or was a Robin.
I know it was rumored after seeing that behind-the-scenes photo of the painting of him. But it was nice to actually get that in the trailer. I know some people say they're tired of seeing the Wayne's death, but I feel like it's important to the Batman story and if you show it now, you don't have to later.
I love this scene because you know no matter what happens Alfred will always tell it like it is to Bruce. He won't just sit on the sidelines and let Bruce do as he likes without telling him what he thinks and he says what we're all thinking, "Superman is not the enemy!". It's great.
Also, this quote “He has the power to wipe out the human race, and I must destroy him.”. I find it a bit odd that Batman would use lines like him having to “Destroy” someone over having to stop them, seems a little non-Batman like, no matter how crotchety he may be in this movie. Hopefully it’s an in the moment thing and he has no intentions of KILLING Superman.
Fight! Fight! Fight! I don't really have much to say besides the fact that I think this scene happens right before that extra special scene fans got to see at that IMAX screening of the first trailer.
Yes! I've been waiting to see Wonder Woman pop up, IN costume and IN the action. It's awesome, she LOOKS awesome. I really really hope she's amazing in this movie.
I had to include this because Batman uses the grappling gun to get away (because it’s a grappling gun and it’s Batman.)
Also, I hope that this trailer is just cut in a way that it LOOKS like Superman is using heat-vision on Batman cause I find it hard to believe that Superman would actually use that on a human even if that human is Batman and being a thorn in his side atm.
Honorary Mention: THAT MUSIC THO?? AMAZING. Not sure if it’s Hans Zimmer or Junkie XL but props to you. Also, while I love the music in this trailer I hope that this film does carry over some of Superman’s themes from ‘Man of Steel’. But if the music is as amazing as this I won’t complain.
Alright, you guys, thanks for reading! What are your favorite scenes in the trailer??
