I have to give IDW a lot of credit. They have really implemented two great franchises and blended them in brilliantly. I have to admit I was not the biggest TNMT fan. However, since I have read this comic I am drawn to them. On the other side, the Ghostbusters was a childhood favourite of mine. Ever since the classic movie I was hooked. Which made me love the cartoon that was later released.

To the cartoon version.

TMNT has been revamped with the Micheal Bay movies. Although, as I said, I was not the biggest fan I saw the movie. It was not as bad as people made out. It was good enough for me looking forward to the sequel.

The recent TMNT movie.

Now IDW have done the right thing here. Many crossovers have been awful in the past like He-Man and DC (not a fan). But TMNT and Ghostbusters are as good as IDW other great crossover GI JOE and Transformers.

The plot is for the crossover is a good one..

Two teams of legendary heroes will join forces this fall to save New York City and the world from the paranormal and the monstrous when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cross paths with the Ghostbusters! With both franchises celebrating their 30th anniversaries this year, it’s never been better time to team up Proton Packs with Ninjutsu!
Transported to a different universe by a faulty invention, the TMNT find themselves in a New York City much like their own, but with one major exception: a rampant ghost problem! If that weren’t enough, the Turtles and their reluctant new hosts, the Ghostbusters, soon find that the Turtles didn’t come alone…

Both franchises work because of their supernatural elements. You have the Ghostbusters with their ghosts, demons and haunting arc. TMNT has of course Splinter, Rocksteady and Bebop, monsters and fantasy. Both commend each other well.

Ghostbusters and the TMNT battling demons.

So if the comics work well why not a potential movie? I really can not think of any reason why it would not work.

Imagine the franchise opportunities in toys, games, other potential movies. I highly recommend reading the comics. It's light hearted but at the same time has dark side to it.
