I was watching AMC this weekend, and I noticed that they're going to do marathons every weekend of The Walking Dead in anticipation for both Season 6 of the show as well as the spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead. In other words, I think I have plans for the next five weekends.

Sign me up!

No, but seriously, while I probably won't re-watch the entire show, I'll pop onto AMC periodically to get my fix. It seems like it's been a lifetime of waiting for the new season.

Anyway, there's some TWD news that you might be interested in if, like me, you simply can't wait for the show to return. TWD is trying to build upon its universe with FTWD, but also is apparently looking to build on the backstory of the outbreak and further develop the characters with stuff we didn't know about them.

During last Friday's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, showrunner Scott Gimple had this to say:

"There will be a whole lot of flashbacks in the first half of this season. I'm working on an entire episode that is a flashback."

An entire episode as a flashback sounds freakin' incredible. It would be an awesome device to allow them to do so much to advance the characters. I guess I have a few ideas of what they could focus on...

  • 1. The building of Alexandria would be unbelievably cool.
  • 2. A backstory of the Wolves would be interesting as well.
  • 3. Most likely: I would probably expect a little bit of background on Morgan.

I think if they are going to do an entire episode as a flashback, a Morgan flashback would make the most sense. There's a lot that we don't know about him and his journey back into the series. This season is also supposed to be a struggle of power and differing ideologies between Morgan and Rick so it would make a lot of sense.

I don't know... all I really do know, though, is that Fear The Walking Dead is coming Sunday, August 23rd and The Walking Dead will return Sunday, October 11th. Two dates that I need to have circled on my calendar.
