"The Gunman" is an action movie directed by Pierre Morel. It stars Sean Penn, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Javier Bardem. The film's budget is 40 million and the box office revenue is 15, 4 million. That's a BIG bomb. The MPAA rating is R for strong violence, language and some sexuality and the runtime is 115 minutes.
BEFORE THE MOVIE:
I am a big fan of the first "Taken". It's a movie that brought Liam Neeson back to pop culture and now has a cult following in action movies. As for the director itself, Pierre Morel, he directed masterpieces like District 13, but some crapboxes like From Paris With Love as well. As I said in the upper paragraph, this movie REALLY didn't do well and is one of the biggest bombs of 2015. It lost 35 million (According to whatculture). And, so far, it's the #8 of the 10 biggest bombs of 2015 (So far). Like I said in my "Run All Night" review, I AM A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEE fan of action films, being my favorite genre. But I'm really not sure about this film. EVERY YOUTUBE MOVIE REVIEWER (Especially JeremyJahns) said that it was BORING. I'm still a little bit optimistic and I might enjoy it. Oh well, let's see.
AFTER THE MOVIE:
UGHHHHHHHHHH. This movie was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGG
MOST BORING MOVIE OF 2015
First off, the movie does have some great action scenes. They are bloody, gory, intense and extremely well shot. Some of them are a little tough to watch. Which gets the film a plus.
Now, on to the bad stuff. First and foremost, the performances are TERRIBLE! Sean Penn looks bored, Idris Elba looks bored, Ray Winstone looks bored and Mark Rylance looks bored. Oh? Did I forget someone? Javier Bardem.......Oh god.... This is the worst performance he's ever done. At first, he was fine, but the more you watched, the crazier he became. He was SOOOOOOO crazy and AWFUL. I really didn't know 2 things. a) What he's doing in this movie and b) WHY IS HE SO CRAZY!??!?!?!
But the main problem I have with this movie, is that it's BOOOORINNNNG!
Oh my god! It was so boring. Imagine a really really really boring movie, add up a really really really boring movie, and another one. GOD! I have never seen a movie more boring than this one. The premise is super uninteresting, and then it becomes super boring. It lacks action, although, when the action hits, it lasts for a long time. But still, it lacks too much action because the talking scenes are either hilarious for no reason, or really boring.
I just wanna point out one little thing. The villain's death is HILARIOUS and almost feels like a slapstick comedy.
