The cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 made their last official Hunger Games SDCC appearance, and we aren't sure who's more upset, the fans or them. Jennifer, Josh, and Liam reflect on their journey in the films and the bond between them...

As The Hunger Games franchise nears its end with [The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2](tag:449866) mere months from hitting theaters, the beloved holy Hunger Games trinity spent SDCC reflecting on what the franchise has meant to them and their careers. Katniss, Peeta, and Gale have evolved greatly since The Hunger Games in 2011, and so have the actors that portray them. At the end of the day, The Hunger Games films and novels carry a very real-life message Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth hope the audience takes away from the conclusion to Katniss' story in Mockingjay Part 2.

Jen: At the very minimum we hope to inspire the audience to think.
Josh: It's also about the consequences of war. It's about all the efforts that were made and all the things that went wrong to get to the point where we had to go to war.

The Hunger Games holy trinity says the experience in the films has changed their lives as much as the fans', and they will definitely miss their fun days together on set:

Jennifer: We still see each-other all the time so I don't miss seeing him, but I do miss acting with him. We can't make eye contact without laughing and I don't have that challenge in any other movies with any other actors I work with.
Josh: Jen definitely creates a really great vibe on the sets. That's going to be missed. I think because she acts so crazy and genuine that she makes other people feel free to be themselves.
Liam: This will always be such a special time in our lives.

Throughout the films, Katniss, Peeta, Gale have all evolved, but it's Liam Hemsworth's Gale that has been stranded on the sidelines until now. Gale comes in with a vengeance in Mockingjay Part 2, and that sets him apart from his co-stars in a big way.

"Gale is sort of right where he wants to be right now. He's an emotional, strong willed, independent, angry young man. His biggest motivation is to take down the Capitol and his focus becomes less about Katniss and more about winning this war. He's a little bit of a ticking time bomb in a way, he sees red."

On Gale losing grip on his once close relationship with Katniss, Liam thinks Gale and Katniss no longer see eye to eye.

"There is a bit of a disagreement in opinions between Gale and Katniss in this one because they have very different views on what's acceptable in war and what's still right and wrong. It was a great journey to take after the last few movies of really sitting on the sidelines having to watch it all happen, this is his chance to get in there and get involved."

While Gale pulls away from Katniss, Josh Hutcherson explains that in Mockingjay Peeta struggles to regain the closeness he once shared with the girl on fire.

"[In the films] I think he starts quiet and not so secure in himself. Then once he confesses his love for Katniss he sort of empowers himself in a way. Then in Mockingjay 1 and 2 he gets pretty messed up and tortured, and brainwashed and all these things."

Officially the Mockingjay, and with President Snow in her sights, Jennifer Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson say Katniss has become more than the symbol the rebellion designed her to be.

Jennifer: Something I really love in the second movie, that's when she takes power, that she will be the Mockingjay, that she does believe in this cause.

Nina: There is a difference between being a warrior and a symbol of a revolution. She might be willing to give up being the Mockingjay but not being a revolutionary.

At SDCC, Lionsgate premiered the final and very intense Mockingjay Part 2 trailer for fans that attended the Mockingjay Panel, and - to all the relief of fans who weren't there - finally teased an online release coming this week! The 3 minute trailer shows what will surely be the best film out of the franchise, with the most intense action and emotional story arcs we've seen yet! If you know the books, you know what I mean. This movie will break us!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 hits theaters November 20th.
