It's not too difficult to picture - and believe me, we have pictured it - that two of the sexiest actors in Hollywood, after spending day-after-day on set, finally get jiggy with it. And sneaky off-screen canoodles are basically inevitable.
What's harder to picture however, is when those off-screen saucy antics are occurring between on-screen relatives. Imagining wholesome relations fornicating somehow doesn't quite have the same appeal.
Fictional as it may be, it still feels a little...icky, doesn't it? But, each to their own. Here's a list of Hollywood celebs that have done the dirty with their on-screen family members:
1. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter - Dexter
Dated: 2007 - 2010
Serial killer Dexter and his foul-mouthed, adopted, detective sister, Deborah shared romantic interest both on and off screen. They eloped in 2008 but unfortunately the show outlasted the marriage and, as both played integral roles, neither could be written out...awks.
2. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett - Blades of Glory
Although already married, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett played the figure skating brother and sister champs in Blades of Glory. Sadly, their relationship has now ended, but they were very much in love when shooting this movie!
3. Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp - Everwood
Dated: 2004 - 2006
The pair got together while playing brother and sister in Everwood and dated for some time. Pratt commented that their relationship never weirded them out because the show was all fiction.
4. Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Robert Iler - Sopranos
I can take a guess as to how Tony Soprano would've reacted to this one. While there were many rumors flying around in 2007 that on-screen brother and sister, AJ and Meadow were dating, it was never confirmed.
5. Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere - Heroes
Dated: 2007 - 2009
Despite the 12-year age gap, romance was kindled on the set of Heroes with this super-powered, super-inappropriate, niece-uncle relationship.
6. Shannen Doherty and Jason Priestley - 90210
Dated: 1990 - 1991
Shannen Doherty bagged '90s heartthrob Jason Priestley while playing siblings Brenda and Brandon Walsh on hit US soap 90210.
7. John Hensley and Joely Richardson - Nip/Tuck
Nip/Tuck was jam packed with disturbing moments, but nothing could quite beat the revelation that mother and son team Joely Richardson and John Hensley were dating IRL.
8. Katherine Heigl and Jason Behr - Roswell
Katherine Heigl and Jason Behr played siblings on Roswell and although the couple was rumored to be engaged, their love fizzled and they called it quits in 2001.
9. Ian Somerhalder and Maggie Grace - Lost
Not all was Lost on the set of this hit ABC TV show. This pretty pair met on-set and started dating just after both characters, Maggie, playing the angst-princess Shannon and her lust-ridden step-brother, were written off.
One Lost fan made this darling tribute to the pair:
10. Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams - The Brady Bunch
In addition to taking his on-screen mother, Florence Henderson, on a date when he was only 15-years-old (she was 36 - eep), Barry Williams went on to swoon sister Brady, Maureen McCormick.
11. Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey - Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Jennifer Grey met Matthew Broderick while playing his sister in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and they secretly started dating. The relationship was made public after they were in a car accident in which two people died. Only five days after the tragedy, Dirty Dancing was released and Jennifer Grey became America’s sweetheart.
12. Lauren Graham and Peter Krause - Parenthood
Dating: 2010 to present.
When promoting Parenthood, the show in which the couple starred as sister and brother, Peter Krause responded to baiting questions with:
“We keep the two things separate. We don’t call each other by our character’s names at home or anything. Come on!”
13. Shane West and Evan Rachel Wood - Once and Again
Dated: June 2009 - June 2009
The pair starred together in '90s ABC show Once and Again. Unfortunately, the brother-sister thing didn't work for this super quick fling.
14. Carrie Preston and Michael Emerson - Lost
Leader of 'The Others' in Lost, Michael Emerson, was certainly lead in another direction when he hooked up with Carrie Preston who played his mother in a flashback episode.
