As massive fans of Harry Potter and awesome movies in general, we at Moviepilot were stoked to get the chance for an exclusive Q&A with Chris Columbus, before his new movie Pixels hits theaters on Friday.
Director of Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire and the first two Harry Potter movies as well as writing for Gremlins and The Goonies, Chris is up there with Spielberg and Lucas in creating the film culture we love.
Here's what we learned from our MP fan Q&A with movie legend Chris Columbus:
He REALLY wants to do another Harry Potter movie
I don't think I would change anything in the Harry Potter series. I really thought that the films - even after I had left - I thought they were beautifully constructed and well-made.
I just wish there were more stories involving Harry, Hermione and Ron...so I could go back and potentially direct another film.
The Harry Potter books inspired his movies
I really feel that when you read a good novel it can be inspirational in two ways: maybe it should just exist as a novel? Some novels though just take you with the visuals in such a way that you want to make a film.
Even the big guys feel the pressure
The most pressure was making the first Potter movie as there were millions of fans, I just had to dive in and not disappoint myself. If I'd thought of the rest of the fans I probably wouldn't have been able to leave my room!
There might be more Goonies!
We are talking about a Goonies sequel. We haven't hired a writer yet. But we want to be very respectful to the original source material, because so many people love the original movie.
