Let me first preface this by saying that this is absolutely, 100% a rumor, and not something to be taken as the gospel truth. It's merely speculation put out there into the world by a site that thrives (successfully) on speculation.
But Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood is fairly certain he's figured out the identity of the actor who will don the Robin mantle in [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) - at least, before the Joker presumably kills him and sends his spray-painted suit back to Bruce Wayne, that is.
Now, the suit showing up doesn't mean that Robin himself will necessarily appear in BvS. In the comics, Joker does, in fact, kill Jason Todd, the second incarnation of Robin. But for all we know, Robin's death at the hands of The Joker happens before the events of the movie, and all we see is the suit as a somber nod to Batman's fallen sidekick. There is a line in the trailers, after all, where Bruce Wayne asks Alfred, "Twenty years in Gotham. How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?" While the latter part is unquestionably a reference to the fallen Harvey Dent, we can assume the first question is regarding the slain Robin.
But Gonzalez seems adamant that we'll actually be seeing someone in the Robin costume, even if it's only in flashback. So who is the actor? According to him, it's none other than Eli Snyder, Zack Snyder's quarterback, aspiring actor son.
Eli has some previous acting experience, having appeared in his dad's 300 and Watchmen as a young boy. And at 6'0" tall and 170+ lbs., he certainly has the athleticism and build to pull off the physically gifted Robin. Snyder will be attending UCLA in the fall where he'll study film, but if Robin is, in fact, a living role in Batman v Superman, we can expect it's a small enough one that he could have filmed it while finishing high school.
So much is being kept under wraps about the film. As I said before, there's no guarantee we'll even see anything more of Robin than his suit in the upcoming film. But if there is to be a Robin, this rumor makes as much sense as any. And I hope we do, because I'd love to see a Nightwing movie eventually hit the big screen.
