For nerds everywhere, this is a great time to be alive. With the imminent arrival of Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad we have a lot to look forward to from the DC cinematic universe. This also, of course, means that now we get to start new fan casting! For this post we're sticking to the villains, as other superheroes have largely already been cast or have already received several pages of fan casting. With no further ado, let's get to it!

Thaal Sinestro

Sinestro is a cold and calculated soldier who turns against the Green Lanterns to start his own "core" which revolves around fear. He needs to seem cold, detached, and precise while also having the ability to show rage and a thirst for revenge.

1.) Mark Strong

Those eyes say it all
Those eyes say it all

For anyone who watched the Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern movie, this option is an obvious one. Despite the various problems with the movie, Mark Strong's Sinestro was definitely a high point and it would be hard to find a more perfect match. 'Nuff said.

2.) Hugo Weaving

The can't miss villain casting
The can't miss villain casting

What do I really have to say to justify this? From the Matrix to Captain America, he has consistently provided a cold, yet rage-filled villain that is memorable. Hugo Weaving was pretty much made for this part. Just imagine him with purple skin and golden eyes, that should say it all.

Which do you think is the best fit for Thaal Sinestro?

Captain Cold

Captain Cold a.k.a. Leonard Snart is a villain whose goals are usually more about beating the Flash and making money than about any larger schemes. He doesn't hold delusions that he is the good guy which is mildly ironic since out of most of the larger villains in the DC Universe, he is one of the few who sometimes becomes more of an antihero if his city gets into danger. He also prefers to be nonlethal as a general rule.

1.) Tom Felton

Tom Felton holds the potential to truly bring this character to life, in my opinion. As we've seen from his iconic stint as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise. he can pull off the bit of evil and superiority necessary for this role while still being a likable and redeemable character - if that route was to be taken. He has the look and the acting chops to really do Captain Cold justice.

2.) Anderson Cooper

I know, he's got the look...
I know, he's got the look...

Stick with me here. I'm fully aware that Anderson Cooper is not an actor... at least not yet. If there's one thing I am certain of, however, it's that he has quite a way with words and a really likable personality. I don't think it would be a stretch for him to pull off the part if they went for less of a dark version of the character. Also, he's definitely got a unique look that would do wonders for the character design. If we take into account the fact that Ezra Miller is playing the Flash, then that makes it clear that they are going with a less serious tone, so this makes this pick less ridiculous.

Which do you think is a better fit for Captain Cold?

Arguably Wonder Woman's toughest enemy, Ares is a villain of immense power and a tactical force to be reckoned with. He has the potential to be more than just a blood seeking brute and could actually create quite the intelligent adversary against Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

1.) Sean Bean

From Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones, Sean Bean has proven time and time again that when it comes to playing this type of character, you'd be hard pressed to find a better suit. He has the potential to create a character that could be physically and intellectually intimidating. Additionally, I'd love to see him go up against the new Wonder Woman.

2.) Joe Manganiello

holy ripped abs, Batman!
holy ripped abs, Batman!

On the other side of things, if they wanted to go with a more brutish look over a more intellectual one, then this is definitely the guy. Joe Manganiello is physically intimidating and would draw in the female crowd in rival numbers to Gal Gadot's allure. That's not to say that he couldn't pull off more than just brawn, as I'm sure he would also make a dangerous intellectual rival as well.

Which do you think better suits Ares?

The Riddler

Edward Nigma (E. Nigma, get it?) a.k.a. the Riddler is a villain of remarkable intelligence and even more remarkable narcissism. Despite his occasionally overwhelming sense of superiority, he possesses a sort of charisma and in the right hands could become a brilliantly intimidating character.

1.) Neil Patrick Harris

Riddle me this, Robin...
Riddle me this, Robin...

When it comes to charisma, this man has a ton. If the goal was to make the Riddler likable in his narcissistic ways, then this is the man to do it. Personally, I think that despite not having the exact comic book look, he has an even more 'Riddler' look than anyone else out there currently. He truly looks like he's about to talk down to you and you're still going to love him for some reason.

2.) Hugh Laurie

What is the best medicine? A good riddle?
What is the best medicine? A good riddle?

Alright, take everything I just said about Neil Patrick Harris and add on the fact that he's got a more serious, sadistic vibe to him and you've got my reasoning. Also, his older age would provide a more experienced adversary for the Dark Knight.

3.) (Bonus) Justin Timberlake

Riddle me this: Who has the look, the charisma, the personality, and has already said he wants to play the Riddler to Ben Affleck's Batman? That's right. J.T. himself! It would definitely make for a handsome rivalry.

Which would make for the best Riddler?

Black Manta

Aquaman's archenemies will need to be someone intimidating enough to go up against the staggeringly intimidating Jason Mamoa and still manage to be a tactical enemy as well. Much like Ares, Black Manta is a more enigmatic character, which allows for a bit more originality for his casting options.

1.) Djimon Hounsou

With several movies that prove his ability to create an intimidating rival and some experience with superhero movies already (Guardians of the Galaxy), Djimon is a definite way to create an iconic adversary to Jason Mamoa's Aquaman.

2.) Idris Elba

I know the general fan casting for John Stewart is Idris Elba, but I think he could also be a dynamic villain. He's got a mature, tough look that would stack up against Jason Mamoa very well.

3.) (Bonus) Common

I know it's a long shot, but ever since I discovered that Common would be playing an (as of yet) unknown role in Suicide Squad, I've always kind of hoped for him to end up being a dangerous, inked version of Black Manta. Just to be clear, the rumor is that he'll be playing Tattooed Man, though, I still think he'd make a great Black Manta.
