Bill Murray is by far my all time favorite actor. Always has been, always will be. As a child I literally wore our family copy of Ghostbusters on VHS down to blank film. I grew up thinking Bill Murray was the definition of funny, and here are a few reasons why you should think the same.
#4 - Bill Loves His Fans
Bill Murray has always seemed to have a very warm and inviting personality. Whenever I hear a story about someone meeting him, they only have nice things and funny memories to share about him. Above you will see a video posted of Bill Murray singing the anthem of one of his fans hometowns at a baseball game. Is the song factually accurate? Possibly not, but it's Bill Freaking Murray, so it is awesome nonetheless. This is just one of many stories of Bill, which leads me to my next point.
#3 - BillMurrayStory.com
There are in fact SO many stories about people randomly running into Bill that there is a site where you can specifically go to reminisce and share your stories about Bill. The photo above was taken from Pebble Beach at a golf tournament. Our man RB Love was serving beverages to the players when suddenly he gets a call to bring a beer out to Murray on hole 14. The story goes once Bill grabbed the beer he spoke,
“God bless you for this,” is all he said.
Then he took a hit of the beer. Tipped it all the way back.
“Ah, Mr. Murray.” I stammered. “Mr. Murray, I just wanted to say…I just want to say you’re my all time favorite. Really. I just think you’re the best.”
Bill Murray looked at me and gave me a half a nod. But with kind eyes, you know, like, ‘don’t go gettin’ all respectful on me now, kid, we’re at a golf tournament.’
At the end of the day Murray was asked about the beer he was given on 14 and he said, “The beer was good.”
There are literally hundreds of stories on this site so if you ever have a little time to kill, it won't let you down in the laugh category.
#2 - His Cameo In Zombieland
To say Bill Murray's cameo in Zombieland MADE the film is a bit far, considering it is a fine movie to watch again and again. But to say it made the film GREAT is right on the money. I will not spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but our beloved comedian shows up in the post apocalyptic world to hang with our core four heroes for a bit. And oh boy does it just seem like the best time ever.
Little Rock: So do you have any regrets?
Bill Murray: "Garfield." maybe.
Gets me every time.
#1 - His Movies!
Try watching a Bill Murray movie and not laughing at least once. It's near impossible. Right up there with not enjoying pizza, and disliking Derek Jeter. This man has been in more classic films that I can count, but I will surely list a few favorites. I've already professed my love for Ghostbuster 1 & 2 but I can't forget Caddyshack, What About Bob, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, Quick Change, Stripes, St. Vincent, and an unforgettable supporting role in Space Jam.
Long story short Bill Murray is a comedic icon, his films will be remembered for years and years to come, and on top of all that he is one of the most down to earth and all around friendly celebrities out there. If you don't want to be best friends with Bill after reading all this I think my article just might have failed. But lets hope that will never happen.
Thank for reading!
Until Next Time,
