Now, there are a whole lot of reasons to love Batman and the Joker. Sure, they're pretty different, seeing as one's a terrifying maniac whose actions cause untold suffering to the city of Gotham, and the other's the Joker, but they've both managed to dig themselves a deep and seemingly un-fillable hole in our hearts.

Now, in comic book, televisual and cinematic form, that's resulted in a whole lot of awesomeness - yet some to the very greatest byproducts of the Caped Crusader and Clown Prince of Crime's respective popularity are the amazing fan-made responses to the characters.

Which means they literally made it out of sand, a substance most of us struggle to transform into the most basic of castles.

Which...may just be the most impressive piece of fan art I've ever seen - though the Canadian Guardians of the Galaxy from the same event (created by Kevin Crawford and Sue McGrew) come pretty darned close...

I mean, who knew Star-Lord played Hockey?

Nicely played, Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition entrants. Nicely played...

What do you reckon, though?
