ABC Family's Shadowhunters, a brand spanking new television series set to premiere on the network in 2016, is looming closer and closer with each passing second. Based upon the best-selling series of Young Adult Fantasy Novels by Cassandra Clare, the television series acts as a small-screen reboot of the 2013 movie, featuring an entirely new cast and an all new team.
With filming currently taking place in Toronto, there's been no shortage of behind-the-scenes pics and videos to fulfill all your fangirl dreams, and luckily for you, if you've missed anything, you're in the right place!
And......ACTION! - FIRST look at the Fray House!
In the books, her house is where Clary begins to make her own history. She successfully fights and kills her first Ravenour Demon in her own kitchen! Her badass switch flips on, and with no actual Shadowhunter training, she manages to save herself and kill the creature! I like to believe that the Nephilim blood that runs through her veins, helps her out a little, giving her the mojo she needs to kick some serious ass.
The Fray household is an important aspect of the books, and therefore the show's, and with these first look pictures, it's clear to see how much thought has gone into making the Fray household as authentic as possible. Complete with pictures of family and friends, and some beautiful artwork (probably a nod to Clary's love of art). Check it out below!
The Mortal Cup & Sword + The Angel Raziel?? - Uh, YES PLEASE!
With a world as vast and detailed as the one featured in the books, the Shadowhunter Prop Department have a lot on their hands. The Mortal Cup and Mortal Sword aren't just regular everyday items. In these first look pictures from the official website, we see a statue of the Angel Raziel, holding both, and a few close-ups to give us a more detailed look at the time and thought put into them.
Oh my god, is that...THE INSTITUTE!? - Yes. Yes it is.
Naturally, The Institute is a massive part of the narrative of the books - acting as a safeplace for Shadowhunters to aid them in their Shadowhunting and general badassery. With that, comes a hell of a lot of expectation for its design. Set pictures released on the official site show overhead plans, and a purpose built set of The Institute, high arches, intricate detail and all! The folks behind the upcoming series are putting their best leather-clad foot's forward, in getting this show as spot on as possible!
Shadowhunters - Looking Better in Black Than the Widows of our Enemies Since 1234
So badass, so much leather. Well it's all got to come from somewhere right? That's where the Costume Department comes in, custom making individual pieces for cast members, keeping in mind the very sacred relationship between Shadowhunters and leather. In yet MORE behind the scenes pics, we get a look at Alec's (played by Matthew Daddario) very special leather jacket, and a little glimpse at some very shiny, very sparkly, inherently glittery clothes that could only belong to none other than The High Warlock of Brooklyn himself, Magnus Bane! (played by Harry Shum Jr). Check it out!
This behind the scenes sneak peek video also gives us a glimpse of Matthew Daddario as Alec, his beautiful custom made leather jacket, and of course, his infamous archery skills!
The Silent Brothers - still silent, still terrifying!
Ah, The Silent Brothers. Their scary, mutilated, haunting faces. Their inability to physically speak, or actually look at you. The long dark robes they wear, concealing god knows what.
So calming. Totally not terrifying.
These male Nephilim act as medics for Shadowhunters everywhere. Having taken on the most powerful of Runes, they're kind of an all seeing, all-knowledgeable kind of people, and in these first look photos we get a very good look at just how brilliant they're going to look for the show.
Shadowhunters, meet your maker! - Cassandra Clare's Set Visit!
It's a very special moment when an author get's the opportunity to see their creations come to life. From the set, to the costumes, and script, but more importantly, the cast. Last week, the author of the best-selling series, Cassandra Clare, flew on over to Toronto to see her Shadowhunting babies in action!
Whilst this isn't the first time she's got to see her characters in action and in person, having previously met the cast of the 2013 movie, here's hoping this'll be the last time we see an all new cast for our fav characters!
Awwww! So many adorable pictures! Be sure to check out the official site for all the latest behind-the-scenes pics and videos, including this adorable one of Kat and Dom (Clary and Jace), on set between takes!
