In 2008 a TV film by Disney called Camp Rock was released. The movie was an instant success with teens and was watched by 8.9 million viewers on the night of its premiere (and many more afterwards).

Furthermore, Camp Rock is also famous for propelling the careers of several future stars in music and entertainment. So, here is what the cast of the film looks like now and what the actors have kept themselves busy with over the past few years:

Demi Lovato (Mitchie Torres)

What she is up to now: Demi Lovato has definitely had the rockiest path to success from the cast. Camp Rock (2008) marked her debut to audiences around the world. It also helped her to launch her music career and allowed her to star in other Disney TV shows and films such as Sonny with a Chance (2009-2011), Princess Protection Program (2009), as well as the sequel of Camp Rock (2008) - The Final Jam (2010).

However, in November 2010, Lovato announced that she was going into rehab citing depression, bipolar disorder, an eating disorder and self-harm as the main reasons for this decision. On January 28, 2011 she returned home and since then her career has absolutely skyrocketed.

So far she has released four albums - Don't Forget (2008), Here We Go Again (2010), Unbroken (2011) and Demi (2013) whilst her fifth album is going to be released this year. With plenty of best-selling singles, experience of being an X-Factor judge, contributing to the soundtrack of Frozen (2013) and a love for social and environmental causes, only the sky is the limit for Demi Lovato.

2. Joe Jonas (Shane Gray)

What he is up to now: Since Camp Rock (2008), Joe Jonas has done a considerable amount of work in music as well as television, although in the last two years or so, he has not been very active. When it comes to music, he was of course 1/3 of the Jonas Brothers, releasing several successful albums (they have sold over 17 million albums worldwide), until the band split up in 2013 citing creative differences as the reason for their hiatus. Also, in 2011 he released his first solo album called Fastlife.

On TV he has starred in Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008) & Jonas LA (2009-2010) and he has also made guest appearances on 90210 and Punk'd.

3. Nick Jonas (Nate Gray)

What he is up to now: Nick Jonas has always had the reputation of being the most talented musician from the Jonas Brothers. He has certainly proven this to be the case by launching a successful career as a solo artist. Nick's self-titled album (and second solo album) opened to mostly positive reviews and has spawned some best-selling singles such as Jealous and Chains.

As you can see, since about a year, Nick Jonas has been hitting the gym regularly, which has helped his TV career. For example, he has starred in Hawaii Five-0 and Kingdom.

4. Kevin Jonas (Jason Gray)

What he is up to now: Since the premiere of Camp Rock (2008), Kevin Jonas has been more focused on his personal, rather than his professional life. On December 19, 2009, he married Danielle Deleasa, whom he had met in the Bahamas in summer of 2007. Shortly after their wedding, the couple starred in their own reality show Married to Jonas, which aired on the E! Network. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Alena Rose Jonas, on February 2, 2014.

5. Meaghan Martin (Tess Tyler)

What she is up to now: Meaghan Martin has been doing consistent work in film and TV over the past few years. For instance, Martin starred in the ABC Family sitcom 10 Things I Hate About You as Bianca (originated by Larisa Oleynik in the film version). She also had the role of Megan Kennedy in the independent film Dear Lemon Lima. Moreover, Martin returned to reprise her role as Tess Tyler in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. In addition in 2011, Martin played the main character Jo in the television film Mean Girls 2 as well as the role of Aubrey in the film Sironia (2011).

In 2013, Martin appeared in the film adaptation Geography Club as Trish, while she appeared in one episode of MTV's Awkward and the thriller The Good Mother.

6. Alyson Stoner (Caitlyn Geller)

What she is up to now: As it is well-known, Alyson Stoner is an amazing dancer and the Step Up series (2006-2014) is the perfect proof of that. Also, in 2011 Stoner released her debut EP entitled Beat the System. She also appeared in Wii Fit related videos on the Nintendo Channel demonstrating how to do balance exercises.

Besides, she also replaced Hayden Panettiere as the voice of Kairi in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Xion in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. In 2013, Stoner announced on her website that she would be voicing the character Opal in The Legend of Korra (2012-2014).

7. Maria Canals-Barrera (Connie Torres)

What she is up to now: Canals Barrera is probably the person on this list who has been most consistent with her work in television. Apart from Camp Rock (2008) and its sequel she has also starred in Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012) (as well as the original movie based on the TV series), Larry Crowne (2011) and Cristela (2014).

She is also a well-known voice actress starring as Shayera Hol/Hawkgirl in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Finally, she also voiced the character of Sunset in the Disney Channel show, The Proud Family.
