"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games," mutters Finnick right before the screen bursts into a flaming Mockingjay symbol and the Mockingjay song eerily plays in the background.
This [The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2](tag:449866) trailer gave me all kinds of feels.
Despite the happy scenes that flash in the beginning of the trailer, such as a meeting amidst greenery and what seemed to be a wedding, there is an ominous undertone. This is initially due to the dark unsettling music score. Then it is expressed through a voiceover by Katniss, "Nothing good is safe as long as Snow is alive."
As soon as you're accepting the doomed fate of the citizens outside the Capitol, Katniss goes on to say, "Snow has to pay for what he's done." And just like that, the spirit of rebellion has sparked in your soul as you sit up straighter in front of your TV or computer. You are now part of the rebellion!
Just as you have once again adjusted to the rebellious side of yourself and you are all geared up for a united fight because "we all have one enemy" your fire is abruptly put out because "he corrupts everyone and everything...he turns the best of us against each other."
WHAT THE HECK?! I'm trying to get into the spirit of Mockingjay Part 2 here, but y'all keep throwing me back and forth!
You take a breath in anticipation of the next shots you are inevitably going to be bombarded with and WE ARE UNITED AGAIN! Your heart soars as you "turn your weapons to the Capitol" alongside Katniss. Everything is in order again. We are united against the Capitol, we are prepared for a fight, we have allies. Then you think to yourself, I wonder what happened with Peet--
WHAT! Peeta and Katniss are hugging. ALERT THE MEDIA, Peeta and Katniss are H-U-G-G-I-N-G! He is no longer trying to strangle her....!
You are definitely ok with this, just confused. But the confusion no longer gets you down because you have been pretty much confused this entire time.
And then, as if we weren't confused enough, a Peacekeeper is smashed in the face, a car blows up, and Katniss and Co. are being herded by a large wave of black....sludge? Generic liquid? Mud? Who knows!
Just as you are hyperventilating from the anxiety, Finnick pops in with that remark about the 76th Hunger Games and the Mockingjay song starts to play and it takes just about all of you to not flip the desk!
I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER 20 TO FIND OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!?!?!
(Unless, of course, you read the books)
