Power Rangers, the much loved franchise for over 20 years, is set to hit the big screens once again on January 13, 2017! While all information on the project is under lock and key several sources online have cited potential plots and spoilers.

What we do know is Dean Israelite is set to direct the movie with Brain Casentini, Roberto Orci, Haim Saban and Allision Shearmur acting as producers with Jon Feltheimer and Shuki Levy as executive producers. We also know Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are writing the movie and Ron Wasserman the man behind the music in many series of Power Rangers is in control of the music for the movie.

Herotic Hollywood has stated that the original villain of Power Rangers Rita Repulsa will be back in the film to wreck havoc on Earth once again. The report states that the opening sequence for the film will see Rita Repulsa fighting Zordon in the ancient past with the first ever Power Rangers! This will instantly create a new mythology behind the history of Power Rangers and if it is true will be instantly breaking away from how the franchise originally started. The main story will apparently take from the original plot of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" meaning we can expect to see a group of teenagers chosen by Zordon to morph into warriors with super powers and weapons to fight the evil forces of Rita Repulsa to protect the Earth. Let us also not forget the mighty Zords they will also pilot to fight the giant monsters sent to destroy the world.

In an interview with IGN, director Dean Israelite revealed the overall tone of the movie. While no actual plot was revealed he did describe what the loyal fans of the franchise can come to expect from the upcoming movie.

"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way... So I think it's going to be a fun, joyful [movie] but one that feels completely grounded in a real world, with real characters going through real things."

He continued to say they are still working on designs for the reimagined world of the new Power Rangers Movie.

Casting is being kept as a massive secret. But given the fact the film is 18 months away from hitting the big screens, it can be assumed casting is well underway. However according to Cross Map some massive Hollywood names could be set to smash this project. Industry favorites including Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Liam Hemsworth and Elizabeth Olsen have all reportedly been approached by casting.

With the information we know and what is being reported it is safe to assume we will be meeting a new Jason, Kimberly, Trini, Zack and Billy using the power of the Dinosaurs to become the super human fighting force known as the Power Rangers. While some may be skeptical it is worth keeping in mind how superhero movies are BIG at the moment and with Pacific Rim proving popular the idea of giant robots fighting monsters is an idea that can work well if done properly. Needless to say going to be interesting in the coming months as news on the franchise is set to burst flooding us with information.
