Is there more than meets the eye for Jared Leto's Joker?

Ever since the first pictures were released and especially after the first trailers of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman came out in Comic Con, fans have been trying to evaluate and connect any hidden dots or meanings which may exist between the 2 trailers regarding the Joker.

A lot of people have felt that this Joker is certainly not the kind of Joker that we have been accustomed to. Whether from all the tattoos or the silver grill in his mouth, i mean can the Joker be imagined sitting in a chair for hours getting tattoos?

After watching the trailers one fan (Reddit user Jason-G169) has a theory stating that Jared Leto's Joker is not the real Joker. In fact he suggests that the real Joker has been killed and has been replaced one of Batman's boy wonders and specifically Jason Todd.

Well as many of you know this Joker is based off the Joker from the comic The Killing Joke. In that comic The Joker kills Jason Todd, Batman’s sidekick Robin. This history is shown in the Batman v Superman trailer.

We see Bruce Wayne staring at the Robin Suit with Joker's message saying "HA HA Jokes On You Batman", as well as the scene where Bruce is reading the paper and there is red writing on with the words "You Let Your Family To Die". The two scenes should confirm that Jason Todd was killed by the Joker in that DC cinematic world.

In the comics the Joker was called the Red Hood before falling into the acid and becoming the Clown Prince of Crime. Jason Todd was also resurrected in the Lazarus pit by Ra's Al Ghul and took the name of The Red Hood becoming one of Batman's villains as we saw in the 2010 Batman Animation "Under The Red Hood" According to Dorkly, it’s proof that “Jason Todd has a built-in history of taking the Joker’s identity.”

So the fan theory goes that The Joker was killed and when Jason Todd was resurrected he took up the name Joker instead of Red Hood. This would explain all the tattoos.

The theory even goes on to say that if you look closely at the pictures Jared Leto's Joker has a J underneath his eye, which a lot of fans guessed was for the Joker, but it could before Jason, as in Jason Todd. There is also a tattoo on his right arm of what appears to be a bird’s wing. Could that be a robin?

While this is just a fan theory it would be interesting to see if this is the direction they are taking The Joker.

What do you think? Is Jared Leto's Joker really Jason Todd?
