Disney had proven over the years that they aren't just animation and princesses as Walt Disney Pictures has been releasing live-action movies since the 1950's. However, within the studio's filmography there have been some that stuck out a bit more than others.
With this list we'll focus on the best Walt Disney Pictures live-action films. I will warn that with this list I decided to focus only from the 1990's into the 2010's. That doesn't mean movies released prior to the 90's were all bad because there are some great releases prior to the decade (The Parent Trap, anyone?), but I wanted to narrow it down a bit to make it a shorter list. If I included every live-action film we'd be here all day.
I will also warn this list does not include Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Lucasfilm or Marvel releases, so don't blow up the comments section saying I forgot something from those studios.
No doubt the 90's gave us some of the best Disney movies. The movies were clean, funny, and gave a relevance to the generation in terms of overall society and the beauty of the imagination. It also taught us some pretty heavy life lessons that future decades didn't quite give us.
The Mighty Ducks (1992)
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)
Hocus Pocus (1993)
Cool Runnings (1993)
Blank Check (1994)
Angels in the Outfield (1994)
Man of the House (1995)
The Big Green (1995)
Tom and Huck (1995)
Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
Jungle 2 Jungle (1997)
Air Bud (1997)
The Parent Trap (1998)
Mighty Joe Young (1998)
The 2000's gave us more fantasy than the 90's did. While the 90's focused on stories that felt more in reality, this decade gave us films stacked full of pirates, royalty, body swaps, and imaginary worlds.
Remember the Titans (2000)
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Freaky Friday (2003)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005)
Bridge to Terabithia (2007)
There are few films in this section for the sheer fact that Disney has been struggling with live-action offerings. The movies feel contrived, forced, and lack the same magic that previous decades possessed. Not to mention practically being just Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical. It's a real shame.
Tron: Legacy (2010)
The Muppets (2010)
Saving Mr. Banks (2013)
Any Disney releases you think I overlooked? Leave a comment! Just keep it respectful and clean, guys. We are talking about Disney movies here.
