Video game movies are certainly not known for their quality. In fact, no direct live-action video game adaptation has ever managed to receive more than 50% on RottenTomatoes.com. Despite this, Hollywood is courting video games more than ever, with dozens of video game movies now existing in various states of production.

CinePlex recently decided to pay their respects to the genre with a new action packed mash-up video showing off basically ever mainstream video game (or video game inspired) movie we've seen. There are certainly some real turkeys on the list, but taken out of context, they actually look a lot more impressive. See how many you can identify below:

As mentioned above, practically every game franchise you can think of (even the ridiculous ones) currently have some kind of movie in production. Currently, it looks like Warcraft and Assassin's Creed might be our best bets of cracking that 50% barrier, although maybe one of the myriad other video game movies can do it?

Other games connected to potential film adaptations include Minecraft, Shadow of the Colossus, The Sims, Half-Life, Metro 2033, Castlevania, Tetris, Watch Dogs, Rabbids, Plants vs Zombies, Gran Turismo, Deus Ex, Mass Effect and The Last of Us, just to name a few. It's probably worth pointing out that many of these are still in extreme pre-production, while it's also likely many of them will never see the light of day.

Maybe that's a good thing?
