Gamescom is a little over a week away, and with demos of Dark Souls 3 being promised for up to half an hour at the event, my excitement can barely be contained. I can't wait to see what Miyazaki has done with the series and whether the new gameplay mechanics From Software have introduced will move the Souls series in the right direction.

The Souls series is famous for a number of reasons throughout the industry and gaming community. Bloodborne expanded upon its reputation this year as a PS4 exclusive with some fantastic changes to combat. Dark Souls 3 hopes to make a similar impact on what we've come to expect but on XBOX One too. But when it comes to fighting From Software's famous bosses, what's the one enemy that they have to top on its release date in 2016?

Dark Souls 3 - The Souls Bosses it Needs to Beat On Release Date!

Rather than be objective, I thought I'd take a personal look at the bosses that absolutely destroyed me in each game. Be sure to let us know in the comments which bosses you've had particular difficulty with and which Souls game you have the most respect for. Let's do this!

Surprisingly, Bloodborne didn't completely hand me my ass the way some of the Souls' bosses have in the past. But there was one optional enemy that I seemingly couldn't handle. It killed me more times than any other boss in the game, including Gehrman! And that was Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos. I don't know whether my particular methods of fighting bosses didn't work for her, or she was genuinely difficult, but her attacks were so devastating that even when you were doing well she could turn the tide with little to no health. Bitch.

Dark Souls 2

I've played Dark Souls 2 so many times, and while a lot of it felt fairly manageable, I'm so glad that one particular boss was optional. Only playing the game again a year later with [Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin](tag:2768294) after a ridiculous amount of attempts did I take this guy down: The Smelter Demon. Once this guy's sword went on fire, I was done for. No matter how much I focused on fire protection, or wore the correct armor, this guy would slaughter me for the slightest mistake. Even players I called in for help would die by the droves. The day I defeated him was a glorious one!

I'm struggling to decide which of these two bosses gave me the most trouble, Ornstein and Smough or the Four Kings. And to be honest, it probably was the latter. These guys were just so powerful, and no matter how hard I tried, they would always gang up on me. Dark Souls is still probably my favorite game in the series, and it has some really tough bosses for players to complain about. But these guys gave me the most trouble I think, what about you?

Demon's Souls

Okay, I'm going to be objective here, because the Flame Lurker made me stop playing this game for a while back in 2009. After I came back and managed to defeat him after a grueling session of rage, I was able to soldier on through the game without an equal sense of difficulty. But the best boss From Software have ever created is The Old Monk. A boss that is taken over by another player? Who came up with this amazing idea?!?! They have yet to incorporate a mechanic that matches this level of genius and I hope they can top it in Dark Souls 3.

But what about you guys? Which boss gave you the most trouble in Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne or Dark Souls 2? Are you excited for the release date of Dark Souls 3? Will you be there to play it at Gamescom? Let us know in the comments below!

Which of these do you love the most?
