IT is one of my favorite movies based on a novel by my all time favorite author, the great Stephen King. I really enjoyed this movie. Granted I haven't seen this film in a while, I have been meaning to go back and watch it again. You can't really go wrong with a film from Stephen King, of course that's just my opinion. I hope there are other Stephen King fans that will see this. You don't have to be a Stephen King to enjoy this film, anyone who is a true Horror fan should enjoy this film. Well enough about how much I like Stephen King lol, let's get on with the review of a true classic horror film. IT is a psychological horror miniseries based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. The miniseries aired ABC November 18th and November 20th 1990. The story revolves around an inter-dimensional predatory life-form, which has the ability to transform itself into its prey's worst fears, allowing it to exploit the phobias of its victims. But for most of the film the it takes the form of a wisecracking clown called Pennywise. The protagonists are The Losers Club, a group of outcast kids who discover Pennywise and vow to destroy him by any means necessary. The series takes place over two different time periods, the first when the Losers first discover Pennywise as children, and the second when they're called back as adults to defeat Pennywise, who has resurfaced. The movie was filmed in New Westminster, British Columbia. The movies cast consists of several well known actors such as,Dennis Christopher, Annette O'Toole, John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Richard Thomas, Tim Reid, Richard Masur, Michael Cole, and of course the great Tim Curry as Pennywise. Critics praised Tim Curry for his performance as Pennywise, and I totally agree with them. He did a great job at playing Pennywise, he gave an awesome performance. Its like the part was made just for him. No one else could have played the part of Pennywise like Tim Curry. The movie aired in two parts on ABC in 1990. Part 1 was the fifth highest rated program on Sunday nights with an 18.5 rating and watched in 17.5 million households.Part 2 was the second highest rated program on Tuesday nights with an 20.6 rating and watched in 19.2 million households. Broadcast was delayed until November because of an alleged copyright violation brought up by the producer of Crazy College that claimed Tim Currys makeup was copied from their character Petsy McGhee. The film got mixed reviews, but has a cult following. In my opinion it is a great movie. Anyone who hasn't seen it should really check it out and give it a chance. Since it was a miniseries, it is a somewhat long movie, but still worth the watch. Part 1 is told from the perspective of when our main characters were children. It tells how they dealt with Pennywise as children. And part 2 tells the story from the perspective of when the main characters as adults. They hear that Pennywise has resurfaced and join forces again to destroy Pennywise. They vow to destroy him this time no matter what the consequences. They make a pact to destroy Pennywise at all costs. The film was released on DVD in 2002, but I haven't heard anything about any plans to be released on Blu-ray. So I'm assuming that it will only be available on DVD. There is also a 2 CD set of the original music score. There is supposed to be a remake in the works. It is rumored that Will Poulter will play Pennywise in the remake. Tim Curry gave his blessing to the new film and to his successor Will Poulter. The remake is rumored to take place in the mid 1980s and 2010s instead of the mid 1950s and 1980s which is the era the original film was supposed to have taken place in. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about them remaking the film because the original is such a great movie. I'm not sure if they could make a remake that would even come close to being as good as the original. But then again with today's technology and if done properly it could possibly be as good or maybe even better. We will just have to wait and see. That is a remake I most definitely have to see. But this is a true cult classic. So if you are a true Horror fan or a Stephen King fan, then definitely give this movie a chance. Sorry this review was so long. I would really appreciate it if anyone that read this review and likes it or agrees with me about this classic film would follow me. I would really appreciate any one who would like to follow me. I really love doing reviews, I know it's been awhile but I am really going to try to start posting reviews more often, at least once a week if not more. I am still new at this so bare with me. So please give me a follow if you don't mind. Thank you for reading my review and for giving a true movie buff like me a chance. Thank you everyone, it is truly appreciated. Thanks again.
