(Warning - major SPOILERS for Ant-Man lie below. If you haven't yet seen it - and if not, why not? It's awesome - then tread softly in the article that follows...)

Now, there are a whole lot of reasons to love Ant-Man, Marvel's 'little'-movie-that-could. Whether it's the natural charisma of its leads, the playful nature of its plotting or simply that Avenger's cameo, the movie was, in a pretty fundamental sense, incredibly likable.

Nowhere was that more evident, however, than in the film's introduction of a character who we've been waiting a long, long time to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - The Wasp. What's more, not only did Ant-Man (briefly, in flashback) introduce the original (and comic-book) Wasp, Janet van Dyne, but during its mid-credits 'sting,' the film also teased the introduction of a brand new Wasp to the MCU - Janet's daughter, Hope, as played by Evangeline Lilly.

The only problem? With Hope's future role as the Wasp being suggested via her mid-credits sequence introduction to her new costume (with that near-perfect line, "It's about damn time..."), Marvel was predictably reluctant to release much in the way of official stills of the scene. After all, it's a fantastic moment that would have been very much ruined by having already seen the costume before heading into the movie theater.

The only way to see the Wasp's new costume, then, was to re-watch the movie.

Until now, at least:

We Finally Have Our First Official Image of The Wasp in Ant-Man

Which, upon closer examination, seems to be very much a blend of a whole lot of the comic book Wasp's costumes, with particular prominence given to Janet's more recent Uncanny Avengers outfit...

...but with a solid dose of her original costume...

...and a fair bit of the sleekness of her Ultimate Marvel costumes:

The big question remaining, then? Just when we'll get to see The Wasp return in the MCU. There's a closer look at the possibilities right here - though it's looking ever-more likely we won't see Hope return in costume until around the time of Avengers: Infinity War.

Even more intriguingly, though? There's a pretty solid chance that this costume...

...will have changed a whole lot by the time we see it donned on the big screen.

What do you think, then?
