Elite: Dangerous is a beautiful game with the potential to unite players from all over the globe in a mission to conquer the galaxy together. You need to grind for a serious amount of hours before you can get the greatest rewards out of this space sim and all of this is gathered in what's known as Exploration Data. But a lot of players are even scared to carry a day of this data around with them in civilized sections of space - it's the online world after all.
Players can also take one another out during their ventures and a lot of progress can be lost in the process. But something pretty shocking just happened in the community that has infuriated a lot of fans and launched an intergalactic manhunt! CMDR Cluseau is being hunted by the Elite: Dangerous community and we hope that they succeed!
Elite: Dangerous - Cluseau Destroys Explorer Holding Months of Exploration Data
This statement came from a review of Elite: Dangerous on Eurogamer and it's completely accurate. You need to spend a lot of time with Elite: Dangerous before you can start to see your efforts pay off. Last night, an explorer was due to return to civilized space after spending 2 months gathering exploration data. A massive event was hosted with a ton of explorers meeting at HIP 81106, to commemorate his efforts and celebrate his return.
But what they didn't count on was the presence of one intergalactic asshole known as CMDR Cluseau, and that he was actually willing to destroy this event and the OI. Let's hear from Ian McC, the moderator of an Elite: Dangerous explorer group who witnessed this massacre and is dumbfounded by the level of dickery. YEAH, I SAID IT!
Tonight was supposed to be a celebration of the grand return of one of this community's intrepid explorers to the bubble of civilised space. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way, as CMDR Cluseau, "accidentally" destroyed Ol during our photo call at HIP 81106.
With a volley of laser fire, and then a Class 4 plasma accelerator shot.
I've seen some pretty jerky things in my many years as an online gamer, but this is about the worst. To wipe out the best part of two months' worth of play in five seconds flat is completely inexcusable and unforgiveable. Especially given that the whole point of grouping together like this was to stop Ol from being ganked by some random idiot on the way back to Shinrarta Dezsha.
CMDR Cluseau has been removed from the community, but he has also been savagely hunted. He was taken out following the assault, but that's not good enough for players of Elite: Dangerous. The player has actually cancelled their account, changed their name online and seemingly disappeared. So it may be more difficult to track their progress in Elite: Dangerous.
He was warned that his gunfire was hitting the explorer and proceeded to do so before finally launching a plasma accelerator shot, which he claimed was an "accident". Hmm, not so sure about that one.
Just think of your favorite game right now. Think of all of the hours you've put into it, or the awards or gamerscore you've won because of it. Just before you cash in on the prize or complete the last mission, all of your save data is deleted by someone and there's nothing that you'll ever be able to do about it. Sure, Cluseau will never have the same presence in Elite: Dangerous again, but that's little consolation for investing months into a game you love only to have that stripped from you as your friends watch.
