Tells the story of a insurance man who is over come by desire for a sultry dame the wife of a rich husband, but when they enlist on a mission to kill the husband and try to claim the insurance money they are discovered by Claims manager Keyes and their affair comes to a deathly conclusion.

Fred Mcmurray stars as Walter Neffs a hardened charismatic charmer who bored with his job as a Insurance salesman first meets Barbara Stanwyck a sexy scantly clad vixen when he drops in to sell some car insurance.

Things become clear when this sexy tight lipped chick starts to make eventuating enquiries as to her husbands coverage and reveals her true wishes.

Tuff Neff realising what she means back pedals fast retreating.

But the seduction of crime and desire for happiness in a hopepless world leads him back where they commit to a devilish scheme of murder and mayhem.

Unfortunately Neffs boss is his biggest threat to discovery unrelenting Byron Keyes ( Edward G Robinson) pulls and pokes at the evidence as the whole scheme unravels drowning hope.and putting the final nails in the coffin.
